NS Volunteer Tool FAQ(2)
NS Volunteer Tool FAQ Q: What is the Events Nova Scotia Volunteer Tool all about? Q: How often will I receive emails from Events Nova Scotia? A: Having worked with groups across the province for the past 17 years, Events Nova Scotia recognized the need for a way to keep volunteers in our community engaged between major events. Additionally we have listened to the event organizers and realized that recruiting and scheduling volunteers was a struggle for one time major events. So to address these issues Events Nova Scotia developed the Nova Scotia Volunteer Tool”. The tool is really twofold. It is a database of volunteers who want to be kept up-to-date about volunteer activities in our province as well as a sophisticated scheduling tool that allows Volunteer Coordinators as FREE online scheduling software. A: We all get too much email as it is so we at Events Nova Scotia don’t want to add to your inbox unnecessarily. We will send out monthly reminders about upcoming volunteer opportunities, new events that have just been announced and sometimes useful volunteer information. The purpose is to keep you as informed as possible about events in our province as well as to remind you to keep your profile upto-date! If you register as a volunteer for an event or we have several events looking for volunteers, you will probably get more than one email a month but we promise not to become too annoying! Q: Why am I receiving an email from Events Nova Scotia about a Volunteer Database? Q: I’m having trouble accessing my account. What should I do? A: You are receiving emails from Events Nova Scotia for one of two reasons. You either signed up a volunteer on our website www.EventsNovaScotia.com or you were a volunteer with the 2011 Canada Winter Games who opted to receive information about future events. One of the many legacies of the 2011 Canada Winter Games was to give Events Nova Scotia their database of volunteers who agreed to be notified of future events. A: Because the Nova Scotia Volunteer Tool is a web-based system is works best when accessed through newer browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla, and Internet Explorer 9. If you’ve forgotten your password simply click “Forgot Password” and a new one will be sent to you. Or if you can contact us by email: Angela@ EventsNovaScotia.com or by phone (902) 421-1302 ext 2244. Q: How can I sign-up to be a Volunteer? A: Signing up is easy! 1. Go to www.EventsNovaScotia.com/NSVolunteerTool and click the “Register/ Login button” and follow the prompts. 2. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide. This email will contain a confirmation link that you need to click as well as a temporary password assigned uniquely to you. You have 72 hours to activate your account, however if it’s past the 72 hours, simply enter your login name and chose “Forgot password” and a new password and activation link will be sent to you. 3. Visit www.EventsNovaScotia.com/NSVolunteerTool often to keep your profile up-to-date and see what new events may have been added. Q: Is my personal Information kept private? A: We will never sell or give away your personal information. You decide which events you want to sign up for and give access to your profile. We work very closely with all Volunteer Coordinators to ensure they understand what is acceptable and what is not. If you ever feel your personal information has been used incorrectly we ask that you contact us immediately so that we can rectify the situation. Q: I organize events in my community, can I access the database?
