VE DAY CELEBRATIONS Friday8thMay2015 Department/Year Team Activities Whole college Two minute silence – from 3pm ‐3.02pm Plenty of bunting and war time specials available – Bangers and mash Roly Poly pudding, jelly Lunch time Football Match 1.30pm Kick off Gipsy Lane Astro pitch KS4 & 5 spectators only Union jack bunting in the main hall. KS3 is planning to show a film in the main hall at Lunch time. Details to follow. VE day quiz( Kindly provided by Caroline Weller) Special Assemblies if rota permits and Sarah Leslie’s wearing her flag hat. Every lesson will have a war poem read. Where students are studying an appropriate text e.g Goodnight Mr Tom, Private Peaceful, War Poetry ‐ greater reference to the context of the day will be made. Red, white and blue Isosceles triangles filled with interesting facts/statistics to make bunting. All completed by Thursday to put up for Friday. On Friday ‐ Starter clip about the VE day celebrations. Special lesson on the advances in medical knowledge and surgical techniques that took place during the war. France during the war and the resistance.
