Young Life is offering a once in a life4me opportunity to anyone with a love of Young Life and a desire for adventure! Folks who join this Encounter will not only get to experience the flavor of Peru through the eyes of Peruvian Young Life kids and their Young Life leaders and staff, but they’ll also get to see one of the great wonders of the world up close and personal -­‐ Machu Picchu! Picchu region for a dis4nc4ve tour of one of the most beau4ful loca4ons in the southern hemisphere. Young Life Expedi4ons is puPng together a group of twenty people to go, see and engage with Young Life by serving at a Peruvian Young Life Weekend and then travel on to the Machu Costs per person $4895. There are more than 3 million teens and less than 7% consider themselves Chris4an. Only 63% of teenagers have the chance to a]end school and unemployment is rampant. The group will be led by Young Life La4n America’s Vice President Dan Jessup and his incredible wife Elizabeth, along with local Young Life staff and seasoned tour guides. A Bit About Peru Young Life The ministry of Young Life reaches out to these teens in a way few others do. Staff members work across all kinds of barriers in Peru—working with teenagers in high schools, teenagers with disabili4es, teenagers from urban and low economic areas, but also others from middle-­‐ and upper-­‐class areas, doing WyldLife and even working with alumni. You’ll have a bird’s eye view of what God is doing in and through Young Life! Costs include: In-­‐country transporta4on (including flights from Lima to Cusco), 4-­‐ 5 star accommoda4ons, local transport, meals, tours and guides, permits, and travel insurance. Gratuity not included.
I;nerary (subject to change) Day 1 -­‐ Thursday August 6 2015 -­‐ You are welcome to make your own travel arrangements or you can u;lize our preferred Travel Agents. We ask that let us know your flight arrival and departure ;mes before you book so we can ensure the ;ming aligns with the other arrival and departures. •You’ll be greeted at the Lima airport Young Life style by your Young Life hosts. •Everyone will embark on the very comfortable transport and drive to your lovely four star accommoda4ons. You’ll immediately begin to hear and learn about Peru and their culture and its incredible history. •Accommoda4ons: Los DelFines-­‐ 3 nights Day 2 and Day 3 -­‐ Friday August 7 and Saturday August 8 •We begin our 4me in Lima by gePng to know the city of Lima and the ministry of Young Life. Young Life Peru, also known as Algo Nuevo, will be hos4ng events for kids and their families on Friday evening and Saturday. Our group will help prepare for these events as well as lending a hand with behind the scenes needs and the program. You’ll also get to hear stories and share meals with kids and leaders as well as having a ton of Young Life fun! You’ll have a front row seat to see God at work through the incredible ministry of Young Life Peru! •Accommoda4ons: Los DelFines -­‐ When 4me allows, we’ll have group debriefing sessions in the evenings. Day 4 -­‐ Sunday August 9 •We’ll hop an early flight via Peruvian Airlines to Cusco ready for our next adventure to the beau4ful Machu Picchu region. We’ll have a wonderful breakfast at our hotel and visits to Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. We’ll have lunch at La Casona del Inka and then onto a Cusco City tour of the Main Square, San Pedro Market, Hatun Rumiyok Street and Museo Inka. We’ll end the day with a na4ve dance and folklore show followed by dinner. •Accommoda4ons: The Eco Inn Day 5 -­‐ Monday August 10 Hikers and Non Hikers •We’ll have breakfast at the hotel and a visit to Pisac followed by lunch at the Inka House. In the agernoon, we will pay a visit to Ollantaytambo and then depart for Machu Picchu and check into our hotel followed by dinner. There will an opportunity for hiking and visi4ng Aguas Calientes, the local hot springs. •Accommoda4ons: La Cabana-­‐ 2 nights Day 6 -­‐ Tuesday August 11 •We’ll start the day as a group with breakfast and then transfer by private transporta4on to the archaeological site of Machu Piccu with a guide tour. We’ll spend the morning experiencing the beauty of this ancient site and then have lunch at the Machu Picchu Lodge returning late agernoon with a stop for everyone at Aguas Calientes and dinner together. •Accommoda4ons: La Cabana Day 7 -­‐ Wednesday August 12 •We’ll have an early breakfast and transfer to the train sta4on to travel to Ollantaytambo and then by private transport to Cusco City. We’ll check back into our hotel in Cusco and have lunch. We’ll have a leisurely agernoon exploring Cusco on your own with a final farewell dinner in Cusco. •Accommoda4ons: The Eco Inn/ Dinner Day 8 -­‐ Thursday August 13 •
We’ll have a leisurely morning in Cusco and then take a flight to Lima. You can choose to make your return home flights for the mid to late agernoon or evening . Yes, I’m all in! What’s Next?
