There Was Already a King
Rev. Mel Davis
Anyone wishing to get more information about joining the church in April, please
contact Rev. Mel Davis 864.221.0236.
During the worship service, all children ages 1-10 are invited to come to the front for a
"Time with Young Disciples". Our children's church continues upstairs after the
passing of the peace. They will be in the Sunday School room learning Bible lessons,
enjoying snacks and activities.
Our monthly pot luck luncheon will be Sunday, April 26th. Bring a dish to
compliment pork roast and gravy and join us in the fellowship immediately following
the worship service.
Join us for Blue jeans, Bluegrass and BBQ at Camp MelLo, Sunday, May
31st. Worship service will be under the tent at 11:30am followed by a covered dish
luncheon. Bring a side dish or dessert to go with BBQ. Water, tea and lemonade will be
provided. You are welcome to bring a cooler of soda if you wish. After lunch, the
outdoor fun begins! Zip lining for the kids, visit the chickens, goats and calf. Bring your
softball equipment or Frisbee or play a game of volleyball or croquet. Folding chairs will
be provided for the day. If you prefer a lawn chair to enjoy the afternoon games, bring
one with you. Plan to spend the day and enjoy time with your church family. Please
bring your family, children and grandchildren, and invite your friends and neighbors to
enjoy this special day.
Hot Tin Rufus Bluegrass Band will again be providing the music for our worship
service and musical enjoyment after the service. This is an event you won’t want to
miss!
Carpooling from the church will be available if you are interested. Please contact Lois
Davis 864.940.3332 if you wish to carpool.
BIBLE TRIVIA –Who was the only Apostle known to die a natural death at an old age?
Answer will be in next week’s News from the Pews.
Answer to last week’s trivia question – Absalom was the son of King David who tried to
take the throne away from his father.
ALL MEETINGS held at the church and all groups in the church holding meetings
outside of the church are asked to PLEASE put your meetings on the church
calendar. The calendar is located upstairs in the Conference room on the book shelf
outside of the church office. We are asking that you do this to avoid a conflict of
schedules and so groups who are trying to plan a meeting know what days are free to
schedule.
If you miss a Sunday and would like to receive a copy of the sermon, please reply to
this email with your request.
The Flower Chart is on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. If you would like to
place flowers in the church for a special Sunday, please sign your name and information
so that it may be put in the bulletin. If you have any questions, please contact Sharon
Dabney 864.414.2592.
Mission and Service
Spring road side clean up was a success last Saturday, with 7 volunteers making the
roads to our church looking good! Many thanks to those who participated.
On Mother's Day, a special offering will be held to help those living at the 5 Presbyterian
Homes that are scattered in South Carolina who do not have any monetary resources left
to pay for their care. The contributions received last year paid for these individuals,
some of whom are over 100 years old.
