The Tony Stone Cookeville Cook‐off Backyard BBQ Competition September 11th and 12th , 2015 Rules and Regulations 1. The Backyard Barbeque Cook‐off is a contest for amateur cookers only. If you compete in the “Tony Stone Cookeville Cook‐off” sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, you are Not eligible to enter the Backyard Barbeque Competition. 2. Entry: Teams must pre‐register to compete. Competition is limited to 18 teams, so register early. The entry fee is $ 60.00 to enter in the categories of Hamburger, Chicken, and Pork Chops. 3. Applications are accepted as of April 1st , 2015. All communications will be via email. Should your email change, it is your responsibility to notify the Cook‐off committee at : [email protected] 4. Persons 18 years or older are eligible to compete in the Backyard Barbeque Competition. 5. Backyard cooking sites are chosen based upon the order of when application and payment are received. Backyard cooking sites are 15’ x 15’. No additional space is available. Your set‐up must fit in the 15’ x 15’ area allowed. 6. You may start setting up on Friday September 11th, 2015, at 11:30 A.M. During the set‐up time vehicles may enter the BBQ area for unloading, then have to be removed from the BBQ area as soon as unloading is complete. “NO EXCEPTIONS” 7. All meat must be raw, non‐marinated or brined, and in its original packaging. Stuffed Chicken and Pork Chops are NOT ALLOWED. 8. Any type of grill / smoker is permissible, electric, wood, gas, charcoal, or pellets. 9. A MANDATORY cooks meeting will be held at the eating tent in the public parking lot between Washington Avenue and Jefferson Avenue, on Saturday, September 12th at 9:00 AM. A representative from each Team must be present at the meeting. 10. Contest entrees must be submitted in numbered Styrofoam boxes (9 x 9) provided at the Mandatory Cooks Meeting. Each box must contain at least seven identifiable pieces of Chicken or Pork Chops, with no garnish or decorations. Aluminum Half Pans will be provided to submit the seven Hamburger entry. Hamburger’s may be dressed with your desired condiments. (Mustard, Mayo, Ketchup, lettuce, onion, Etc.) 11. Contest entrees will be turned in at the front of the First Methodist Church (Broad Street entrance). Turn in times are: Hamburger – 12 pm (noon) Chicken – 12:30 pm Pork Chops – 1:00 pm Entrees may be turned in five minutes before until five minutes after each turn in time to be judged. Entrees are judged for Appearance, Taste, and Tenderness using Kansas City Barbeque Society Scoring rules. Any entry turned in after the 10 minute interval will be disqualified. 12. Ice will be available for sale on site; water and electricity are available on a shared and limited basis. (110 outlet only) 13. There will be “no” commercial sampling or distribution unless approved by the Tony Stone Cookeville Cook‐off Committee in writing. 14. Trophy’s and Bragging Rights will be announced at the Main Stage. Time is to be announced. 15. No RV’s are permitted in the Backyard BBQ competition area. 16. Celebrity Judges may be selected to Judge the Tony Stone Cookeville Cookoff Backyard BBQ Competition. If your application is not accepted, your money will be refunded. However, no refund of the application fee will be made once you have been accepted into the contest. Any photos taken of your team onsite and your responses to questions in the application become the property of City Scape d/b/a Fall FunFest and may be used for promotional purposes. Contestant agrees to indemnify and hold City Scape d/b/a Fall FunFest and its employees and volunteers, and the City of Cookeville harmless from any and all claims made against the Cookoff Celebration, including, without limitation, all costs, liabilities, judgments, expenses, damages or reasonable attorney’s fees, arising out of or in connection with (I) any structure erected by contestant, (II) an apparatus, equipment, or personal property used by contestant, (III) any act or omission to act of agents, and (IV) any claims made on account or resulting from contestants’ participation in the contest. I agree to abide by the City Scape d/b/a Fall FunFest and The Kansas City BBQ Society’s (K.C.B.S.) Rules and Regulations.
