Jones, Director Daytime Phone: 610-863-3688 Email: [email protected] April 9, 2015 FAMILIES FIRST 10th Annual Slate Belt Idol Competition Families First presents their 9th Annual Slate Belt Idol competition coordinated by Mrs. Carol Scarangello, Music coordinator is Mr. John Scarangello. The competition will take place on Friday April 17, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium of the Wind Gap Middle School, 1620 Teels Road, Pen Argyl, PA. The Slate Belt Idol is a vocal competition to benefit Families First - helping families in need in the Pen Argyl Area School District. 12 very talented vocalists will be competing for the title of Slate Belt Idol 2015. The winner will receive $500.00 and a recording session at Scorpion Sound Factory and the runner- up will receive $250.00. Audience votes! $1.00 per vote for their favorite singer(s) A 50/50 Raffle Drawing Light refreshments will be served Host this year: Mrs. Carol Scarangello; The Judges: Mr. Bob Krome, Mr. Nick Kessler and Mr. Rick New Contestants: Craig Adderley, is from Conroe, Texas, and has lived in Pennsylvania for a year now, and lived in Colorado before moving here. He loved music ever since he as a little kid and have found it to be one of the most soothing and beautiful forms of expression out there. When Craig is not playing or singing, he can be found out playing disc golf, refereeing high school soccer matches, or hanging out with his wife. One day, he hopes the music he writes and sings will be heard by more than just his circle of friends. Craig believes that his life has taught him a lot and he feels like there is a lot to share. Melissa Devery 23, Effort, PA is originally from Nazareth and she has been singing for as long as she can remember and is lucky enough to be able to do it on a regular basis with band mates in Peaceful Closure. Amber Glose 16, Pen Argyl, is a junior at Pen Argyl High School. She is in the Health Related Technology at the Career Institute of Technology. Amber enjoys hunting and fishing with her Dad. Upon graduation from High School, she plans to study Phlebotomy and become a Registered Nurse. Emily Hinton 18, Pen Argyl, PA Justine Itterly 18, Pen Argyl, PA Rob Marsteller 38, Pen Argyl, PA was born in Allentown, but currently lives in Pen Argyl. He is a permanent student. Most days, he can be found writing his dissertation, or procrastinating. Kaitlyn O’Brien 15, Pen Argyl, PA attends Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts. Kaitlyn plays the Piano and Clarinet. In her spare time and loves to sing and dance. Kaitlyn also likes to run. Ashley Phelps, 26, Pen Argyl, PA is employed as a social worker at Kids Peace Children’s Psychiatric Hospital. She graduated from Marywood University with a Masters in Social Work and is a Licensed Social Worker. Ashley started singing in school talent shows in middle school and continued singing throughout college where she helped run an acapella group. Ashley continues to participate in talent shows around the area. Last year, she placed third at Blue Valley Talent Show and second at Slate Belt Idol. Jenny Marie Smith 17, Wind Gap, PA is a senior at Pen Argyl High School. For the past four years, she has been involved in Journalism, Chorus, Chamber Singers, and Tennis, having the great opportunity of being the co-editor-in-chief of her school newspaper this year. Besides these extracurricular activities, she works part-time at Giant. Jenny enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends and she enjoys relaxing once in a while. After high school she plans on attending Northampton Community College for Nursing. After graduating from NCC she plans to transfer to further her education.
