Gatineau Beerfest 2013: A bigger site for a bigger gourmet feast
Ottawa, Wednesday, April 17, 2013 - It's official! The much-loved Gatineau Beerfest is back. Join us May 24,
25 and 26 at Jacques-Cartier Park for the third edition of this popular event, open to beer fans and foodies of all
ages. Indeed, the event is moving to this new location to accommodate more brewers, exhibitors, artists and
festival lovers! The Beerfest marks the arrival of warmer weather, which launches the beer festival season in
Quebec.
The Beerfest "Drink less, drink better" philosophy makes it perfect for families, Ottawa residents, and visitors to
the National Capital Region of all ages. Some 35, 000 to 40 000 people are expected to take part in this threeday event, up from 32, 000 in its May 2012 season. New this year: the Gatineau Beerfest will focus on the
theme “Women and Beer”. Thus, visitors can walk through the site and learn more about the first beer created
by a woman 100 centuries ago.
More good news: the 2013 edition will offer products from 55 exhibitors. Nearly three-quarters of the exhibitors
are brewers with an offer of more than 350 beers on site. Also, expect an impressive number of local artisans
and restaurants and a new partner. Indeed, the “Grande Tablée Métro” will be offering its traditional Sunday
Lunch banquet!
The varied festival activity program includes tasting workshops, beer seminars, street performers, and live
shows by emerging artists – all aimed to create a unique and family-friendly approach to celebrating Canada’s
favourite drink.
“Beerfest is a true celebration for the senses,” said Mario D'Eer, Gatineau Beerfest organizing committee
chairman and spokesperson, gourmet beer expert, media personality and author of numerous books on beer.
“Whether you want to learn about beer, enjoy some of Canada’s most celebrated microbrews, or simply savour
good food and entertainment with friends, there is no better place than right here in our own backyard.” Last but
not least, Caroline Leclerc, creator and animator of TV series "Ça va brasser", first French television series
focusing on microbrewers, and blogger – “beer” journalist ", will also be spokesperson for the third edition of
the Gatineau Beerfest!
Strategically located, Gatineau is a prime destination to promote artisan brewers and local products from
Quebec, with an audience of local tourists and tourists visiting the area of the National Capital of Canada.
Tickets are $12 per day, $24 for three days, and free for those under 17 years of age with adult supervision.

Beer lovers can choose between 4 oz. and 8 oz. sizes, and tasting tickets range between $2 and $10 depending
on vendor and brew.
The festival runs at Jacques-Cartier Park on Friday from noon until 11 pm, Saturday from 11 am until 11 pm,
and Sunday from 11 am until 6 pm. Jacques-Cartier Park is conveniently located right next to Parliament Hill.
Even better, festival-goers travel free on the STO (Société de transport de l’Outaouais ) on May 24, 25 and 26 –
simply show your Gatineau Beerfest pass to the driver.
