A time for fellowship will follow in the Great Room. Allison was the Crib Room Supervisor here at First Presbyterian Church and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: First Presbyterian Church Nursery Fund (please make checks out to First Presbyterian Church, memo: Nursery Fund) and/or The Allison Kuhlman Scholarship Fund via Go Fund Me, http://de.gofund.me/AllisonKuhlman. Sunday Morning, March 22 Join us for worship at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday, March 22 when we will welcome 3 new members to our church family. The Session has called a Congregational Meeting for March 22, 2015, following the 9:30 service of worship hear the second and final reading and to vote on the proposed amendment to the church bylaws. The following is the addition to the Church Bylaws: Members serving on the Congregational Nominating Committee will be ineligible to be nominated to serve on a Board or Committee of the Congregation for the duration of their terms of service on the Congregational Nominating Committee. Come and enjoy. Youth News Mission Trip Change As of Saturday afternoon YouthWorks trip to Nashville unfortunately has filled up. Luckily, Youthworks offers other cities that same week (June 28-July 3) so we have made a second choice and will go to Raleigh, NC. The cost is the same ($279). In Raleigh we will spend half of the week doing children ministry and working with the elderly and the second half helping with home repairs, soup kitchens, food pantries, and more. Our last day there is free for us to schedule a fun activity, like going to the beach! Even though we are unable to go to Nashville, God still has a plan for us! Raleigh will be a fun and spiritually servant led trip! MIX & MOVE Deposit Deadline Character Builders .................................. Room 209-210 On Sunday, March 22, our lesson will be “Receive the Holy Spirit,” taken from The Present Word quarterly. The scripture reference is John 20:19-23. Stan Scarbrough will lead our discussion. Reminder to parents that this Sunday (3/22) is the deadline for both MOVE (High School June 8-June12) and MIX (Junior High July 6-July 10). Both camps have a deposit of $50. We have to have a minimum of 3 people attend in order to go! Salvation Army Soup Kitchen T.U.G. Youth Group The Presbyterian Women are scheduled to sponsor and serve a meal on Tuesday March 24 at the Salvation Army. We are responsible for providing the food and serving the meal. Please watch the bulletin board to sign up to provide food or volunteer to serve that day. The hours of service are roughly 11am to 1pm. Financial donations are welcome made out to First Presbyterian, memo Salvation Army. Easter Candy Needed An Easter Adventure is planned for Saturday, April 4 from 1-3 PM in the Great Room. Children aged birth to 5th grade are invited to come for Easter crafts, games, stories, snacks, and age-grouped egg hunts. We need candy donations to fill the eggs and volunteers (6th grade and up) to help the day of the event. Candy donation boxes will be located around the church. Please plan to come for the fun! Please Stop Helping Us The FPC Book Review Group will gather on Monday, April 13 at 9:30 a.m. in the Parlor to discuss the book, Please Stop Helping Us, by Jason Riely. All are welcome, especially you! May’s read is The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. This Sunday, March 22, we have TUG from 6-8! Come for some great fellowship and community time! We’ll be outside for the majority of the evening, so please dress accordingly! Youth Choir will meet immediately following TUG from 8:00-8:30 on March 22. Bakery Bingo/Movie Night Rescheduled Bakery Bingo and Movie Night that was scheduled for this Friday, March 20 is cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. Watch the newsletter and Facebook for new day and time! Basket Auction Ends March 29! Place your bid in the silent auction in Fellowship Hall before noon on March 29! You may bid anytime! Proceeds from the auction benefit our youth attending Christian summer camps, events, and the mission trip. HOLY WEEK PALM SUNDAY WORSHIP March 29, 8 am and 9:30 am Join us as we begin the Holy Week journey with a parade of palms, children singing, and worship to help us prepare us to walk with Jesus this Holy Week. Children 5th grade and younger are invited to participate as we celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem in a palm procession. Children will meet in the Parlor at 9:15 am. Come to hear and enjoy the Children’s Choir on Palm Sunday. All children 5th grade and younger are invited to participate in the Children’s Choir. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 6 pm and Sundays at 10:30 am in Room 108. MAUNDY THURSDAY April 2, 6 pm, Fellowship Hall Dinner & Worship Join us for dinner and worship with the Sacrament of Holy Communion around tables in the Fellowship Hall. The Youth Choir will assist in leading worship. Dinner is provided. Those attending are asked to bring a dessert to share. There will be childcare during worship for pre-K and younger. GOOD FRIDAY Cross Walk April 3, 6 pm, First Presbyterian An ecumenical walk through south Findlay with stops along the way to reflect & pray for the ministries and life in our community. Take a turn carrying the cross. The walk is hosted by 6 area churches: St. Andrews, St. Marks, and Howard United Methodist churches, Faith and First Presbyterian churches and Unity Christian Ministries. The walk begins at 6 pm at First Presbyterian. All are welcome to walk and pray before returning to worship at 7 pm. EASTER SUNDAY EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE April 5, 2015 6:30 am, Front Portico Join us for a service beginning under the front portico at 6:30 am. Parishioners will process into the Sanctuary. The service will conclude as we go to the cross by the street and decorate it with flowers, transforming it from an instrument of death to a sign of new life in Christ. EASTER BREAKFAST 7:30 am, Fellowship Hall A light breakfast of pastries, bagels, fruit, and beverages will be available. No reservations are needed, all are welcome. EASTER FESTIVAL WORSHIP 9:15 am prelude begins 9:30 am worship, Sanctuary Children 5th grade and younger are invited to participate in the flower procession as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Children will meet in the Parlor at 9:15 am. The service will include music from the Chancel Choir, Chancel Bells, and youth. The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be received, which funds provide relief for those facing disaster, hunger, and poverty worldwide. We will conclude the service with the singing of The Hallelujah Chorus from Händel’s Messiah. Tenebrae Service April 3, 7 pm, Sanctuary We gather together as Christians at the foot of the cross for an ecumenical service of scripture, shadows, hymns and reflection. The Chancel Choir, along with musicians and choir members from other local churches, will provide music. The service will include the symbolic stripping of the church and veiling of the cross. Your gifts will help us decorate the Sanctuary with spring flower plants, on Easter Sunday, April 5. Contributions in any amount are welcome. Please designate your gift in memory of, in celebration for, in honor of, etc., on this sheet and submit it to the church office by Sunday, March 22. All gifts will be recognized in the worship bulletins on Easter Sunday, April 5.
