Prayer of Confession
God of mercy, we confess that we are people of ashes and dust. We join the
throngs shouting “Hosanna,” then deny we know you. We ask for your guidance,
then refuse to follow the example of Jesus. Blot out our sin; wash us whiter than
snow. Create in us clean hearts and renew right spirits in us that we may claim
our salvation and share your love with others. Amen.

under the direction of Karen Childers, accompanied by Jane Stelling. The Harmony Choir is
under co-directors Nancy Kirby and Carol Godfrey, accompanied by Judy Snyder. The Junior
Choir is directed by Amy Joye and accompanied by Joanne Smith.
The deacon assisting in worship today is Jerry Wylie. Jerry and his wife, Amy, are members of
the Rose/Grace Class in which Jerry teaches. They have two sons, Justin and Jacob.
The palms on the Gates of the Remembrance Garden are to honor the lives of those individuals
placed or memorialized in the Columbarium.
Today is a fifth Sunday, a Stephen Ministry awareness day. Our Stephen
Ministry consists of trained lay people who provide one-to-one confidential
Christian care to people in our congregation and community who are struggling
with difficult circumstances. Stephen Ministers are wearing name tags
this morning and invite any question you might have about their ministry.

Deacon Nominating Committee Election
FBC members are requested to submit nominations for the 2015 Deacon Nominating
Committee:
• Freda Lark will serve as the 2015 Deacon Nominating Committee chair.
• Nominees for the additional eight Deacon Nominating Committee members are
requested early in the year so the committee can be formed and begin their work during
the summer months.
• In the fall, Deacon Nominating Committee members will contact Deacon nominees
equal to the number of vacancies on the Diaconate as to their willingness to serve.
• Once the slate of new deacons is complete, it will be submitted to the church for a vote.
• Installation, ordination and service of new deacons will begin in early January.
Below is a ballot that will be used in submitting recommendations for the eight positions
on the Deacon Nominating Committee. Ballots must be signed by members. They may be
placed in the offering plate or returned to the church office by Sunday, April 5.
Because the persons on the committee are ineligible to serve again for two years, do not
nominate any of the following: Elaine Barnhill, Ralph Bouton, Christa Brackin, Arnold
Burrell, Bob Cloaninger, Ana Gibbs, Brandt Gilbert, Doug Girvin, Peggy Good, John
Jones, Joan Kellett, Freda Lark, Laurin McDonald, Harry Shucker, Michael Stogner,
Kristy Way and Reed Wilson.
NOTE: This is not a ballot to nominate Deacons, but a ballot to nominate members of the
