Friends of the Hawthorne Huddle,
Join us at the April 2 Huddle for a first-hand look at new findings from the Cradle K Cabinet, the
Mayor’s initiative focused on the health and well-being of babies and children up to age 3. We’ll
hear about the Cabinet’s work with the community and their recommendations to help children
and their families get a healthy start, live in stable housing and access high-quality child
development and early learning programs.
We will be joined by Cabinet Co-Chairs Carolyn Smallwood of Way to Grow and Peggy
Flanagan of the Children’s Defense Fund. The Mayor and the Cabinet are still accepting
community input, so we ask you to come with your feedback on the preliminary goals
recommended by the Cabinet. In preparation, here’s a link to the draft report from the Mayor’s

The Hawthorne Huddle will be held from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room at
Farview Park, 621 29th Avenue North. A continental breakfast will be available at 7:15 a.m.
