Kennebecasis Rowing Club Summer Coaching Positions 2015
KRC Club Captain Assistant and Learn to Row Coach
The KRC Club Captain Assistant and Learn to Row coach reports directly to the KRC Club Captain. This position requires the
individual to assist the KRC Club Captain with the administration of programs and registrations as well as and coach the Learn
to Row program (LTR) and Youth Rec (Train to Train, T2T) programs.
Responsibilities will include:
 Assisting with the High School program & regatta
 Assist with membership administration, including coordination of registration with RCA, collecting rowing fees, and
tracking membership payments
 Administrating and coaching the Youth LTR program
 Working on and completing tasks as assigned by the KRC Club Captain
 Designing ( or revamping) LTR program and create LTR Handbook
 Assist with creation of a database of members and parents contact information for timely communication of fees,
programming changes and upcoming regattas
 Manage and update club website
 Assist with coaching of other programs as needed, depending on enrollment
 Other duties as may be identified by the Club Captain or KRC Executive
The successful applicant should have:
 Excellent communication skills( written and oral), computer and organizational skills with attention to detail
 Strong interpersonal skills
 Be able to work effectively with little supervision
 Demonstrated love of the sport
 Ability to drive programs and work with others in all age groups
 Must have completed RCA Learn to Row Instructor Trained or willing to take as soon as available
 Minimum of 2 years competitive rowing
 Previous coaching experience an asset
 Solid background in sport terminology and technique and rowing equipment use and maintenance
 Must be entering in to a full time student program after completion of summer employment
 Must be flexible with work hours since schedule is dictated by program and club requirements
 Current First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset
 Pleasure Craft Operator’s license
 Required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Background check

KRC Club Captain
The KRC Club Captain will provide leadership and direction to all the KRC rowing programs and coaches as well as work
closely with the Provincial High Performance Coach. The Captain will mentor, develop and schedule the coaches as well as
oversee and coach the various rowing programs as needed. The KRC Club Captain will also be responsible for program
registrations and administration as well as day to day management at the club.
Responsibilities include:
 Working closely with Provincial HP Coach to deliver comprehensive training programs to the Competitive athletes
 Actively support and ensure quality coaching is being provided at all levels of the KRC programs
 Providing leadership and direction to ensure the coaches are properly informed and confident in delivering quality
instruction to the athletes
 Designing and/or assisting with designing of training programs for all KRC rowing programs
 Ensure all the coaches and safety boats are properly scheduled for all programs
 Ensure health and safety policies of the club are followed and enforced both on and off the water and perform safe
rescues on the water
 Coordinate and execute the High School Regatta with the Regatta chair
 Ensure athletes are provided with a high quality and enjoyable instruction
 Ensure athletes understand and can demonstrate knowledge/techniques of rowing safety rules and procedures, boat
equipment handling and terminology, stoke techniques and follow the instructions of a coach or coxswain.
 Coach the Youth Rec (Train to Train) program as well as any other program as needed
 Create a database of members and parents contact information for timely communication of fees, programming changes
and upcoming regattas.
 Membership administration, including coordination of registration with RCA, collecting rowing fees and tracking
membership payments.
 Day to day organization and reconciliation of accounts with members and regular club business.
 Provide weekly updates to KRC Executive
 Other duties as may be identified by the KRC Executive
The successful applicant should have:

 Must be flexible with work hours since schedule is dictated by program and club requirements
