In honor of the late Dexter C. White, Deputy Commissioner of the
Department of Public Works, the City of Atlanta will officially kick-off
NPWW with a 5K Walk/Run to increase health & wellness and in support
of a college scholarship fund of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity a 501(C)3
organization. The 51-year-old Deputy Commissioner served in key
governmental roles impacting the field of Public Works. He is credited
with improving the City of Atlanta's Solid Waste Services, making its fleet
more sustainable and introducing 96-gallon recycling carts in an effort to
reduce Atlanta's carbon footprint. He was known nationwide for his
overall contributions to Public Policy, Solid Waste Management, and
