GERRY ROXAS FOUNDATION Leadership Endowment and Development Fund (LEAD Fund) “Harnessing potentials of Gerry Roxas Leadership Awardees for community transformation and nation-building” What is the Gerry Roxas Leadership Award Program? Over the past 55 years, more than 42,000 Filipino girls and boys were recognized as Gerry Roxas Leadership Awardees by the Gerry Roxas Foundation. The award, consisting of a gold medallion, is given to outstanding graduating high school students from public and private institutions who have shown exemplary leadership and dynamic spirit in both academics and extra-curricular activities. The award hopes to serve as an inspiration to the youth to shape and live their visions for their community and the country by exemplifying the core values of integrity, service and excellence as espoused by its founder, Senator Gerry Roxas. A number of past GRF awardees now join an illustrious roster of leaders that have accomplished outstanding achievements in their chosen fields. Some of the more prominent ones include: Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman ABS-CBN President Charo Santos- Concio PLDT & Smart Vice-President Ramon Isberto Former National Defense Secretary Avelino Cruz, Jr. Former DILG Secretary Joey Lina Former COMELEC Commissioner Grace Padaca Quezon City Vice-Mayor Joy Belmonte Broadcast Journalist Malou Mangahas Multi-Awarded Singer/Composer Gary Granada The awardees have also been recognized for their outstanding academic achievements while in college. In 2014, more than sixty Gerry Roxas Leadership Awardees received academic recognition with Latin Honors (Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Cum Laude) during their recent college graduation. This year, the topnotcher in the Bar Examinations was a Gerry Roxas Leadership awardee. What is the Gerry Roxas Leadership Endowment and Development Fund (LEAD Fund)? The program aims to harness the potentials of Gerry Roxas leadership awardees by providing scholarship for college education and opportunities for leadership immersion through the Foundation’s Leadership Program. The vision is to nurture the growth of Gerry Roxas awardees who will in the future use their leadership skills and abilities to transform communities and lead the Filipinos in nation-building. Around 2,000 outstanding graduating high school students are selected by partner public and private high schools to receive the Gerry Roxas Leadership Awards yearly. Out of the total awardees, around 20 deserving awardees are given financial leap for college education. Since 1967, GRF has awarded 1,242 college assistance grants nationwide. On the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the Gerry Roxas Foundation, the Leadership Endowment and Development Fund (LEAD Fund) will be extended to a greater number of Gerry Roxas awardees who in their youth have already been recognized as role models of integrity, service and excellence and will one day contribute in nation-building. Who is eligible to join the program? The program is open to Gerry Roxas Leadership Awardees newly graduated from high school who are incoming college freshman and pursuing undergraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at recognized participating academic institutions in the Philippines. SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINE Specific Eligibility Criteria 1. Applicant must be a recipient of the Gerry Roxas Leadership Awards of the current year and an incoming freshman in college. 2. Applicant must enroll in Major Universities and Colleges in the Philippines and pursue undergraduate studies based on the attached list of selected courses (Attachment 1). 3. Applicant must submit a Social Case Study Report prepared by the Local Social Welfare & Development Office or Department of Social Welfare and Development. 4. Applicant must not have a high school grade lower than 85%. 5. Applicant must be of good moral character verified by the high school principal. Required Documents Applicant must submit the following documents: 1. Signed letter of intent 2. Signed scholarship application form (Attachment 2) 3. Social Welfare Case Study Report of applicant issued by the local Department of Social Work and Development 4. Copy of Grades in High School with no grade below 85 % 5. The SAC comprises of the following members: President, GRF - SAC Chairperson Executive Director, GRF Program Manager, Leadership Development Program LEAD Fund Coordinator / Scholarship Coordinator Advisers (as assigned by the President) Application Process 1. Send required documents to the Leadership Endowment and Development Fund (LEAD Fund), GRF for pre-screening. Only applicants with complete documents will be considered. 2. For those shortlisted in the pre-screening, applicants will have to take the electronic exams in the GRF offices. In the event that no GRF office is accessible to the applicant, GRF will arrange an electronic examination. 3. Applicants who passed the exams will be scheduled for a personal interview in the GRF offices. For those who are in areas where there is no GRF office, the interview will be done through Skype or any similar software. The interview will be done by any one or two of the Selection and Awards Committee members. 4. Applicants who passed the interview will be informed immediately by GRF through email, call or postal system. 5. Applicants will have to acknowledge receipt of the announcement and will have to inform GRF immediately of details about their school and course in college to undertake the next steps. Awarding Ceremony and Scholars Assembly will be conducted for the signing of contracts. 6. To be considered for the GRF Scholarship, applicants must follow the deadlines as indicated below.
