SALARY RANGE:
$47.34 per hour + Benefits (40 Hour Workweek)
Employee pays up to 8% of salary/wage toward CalPERS retirement plan

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under supervision of Chief Bridge Painter, perform painting and associated work on the Bridge and other District facilities
as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 Completion of a Painter Apprenticeship program desirable
 Journey-level status with five years experience in structural steel painting, including rigging of scaffolds,
abrasive blasting and painting with spray equipment
 Bridge painting experience preferred
REQUIRED LICENSE (S):
 Operates District vehicles on a regular basis
 Must possess and maintain a current, valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record
 No moving violations and/or "at fault" accidents within the last 3 years
 No DUI’s or Reckless Driving codes within the last 7 years on the current DMV print-out
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Painting with airless and conventional spray equipment, brushes and rollers
 Abrasive blasting
 Spraying zinc coatings and various topcoats
 Rigging paint scaffolds
 Care and maintenance of paint equipment
 Maintaining a consistently high level of safety in work conditions
 Responsible for cleaning and housekeeping in assigned work area
 Complete paperwork as required
 Know and follow the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to the job
 Regular and reliable attendance required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 Work methods including rigging, paint application, paint equipment and tools, abrasive blasting and safe work
practices

Carry out work assignments with a minimum of supervision
Ability to work effectively and professionally with District employees and all others encountered in the course
of work
Adhere to safe work practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 Able to stand for long periods
 Position requires frequent bending and reaching
 Ability to work comfortably while wearing cartridge-type respirator
 Lift 50 pounds
 Climb ladders
 Work outside in cold and other inclement weather
 Work comfortably at considerable heights and on suspended scaffolds
