This week’s news …
Breaking news … this morning’s collection for the
Nepal Disaster Fund, together with this week’s cake raffle money,
has raised a total of £555 for those in need in Nepal.
Thank you VERY MUCH everybody, for your amazing generosity
Dodgeball Tournament
Last Friday the Junior children took part in a
thrilling afternoon of dodgeball.
Each house team was divided into two teams and
played against the other houses in an exciting
competition to see which house would come out on
top. All the points were added together and the
winning house team was Hazel!
Congratulations to all children who took part, it was
a busy and active afternoon but great fun was had
by all.
However, more importantly, the aim of the afternoon was to raise money for the British Heart
Foundation and we are extremely proud to announce that we raised a staggering
£1,129.55!!
This is by far the most we have ever raised. What an achievement. Well done and thank you to all those
children and their families who raised money for this event.
Ali Fentiman and Kestrel Class at Duncton
This week, Miss Ali Fentiman, who teaches Kestrel Class at Duncton has been successful in gaining
another teaching job at a new school. Ali has been an extremely valuable member of the Federation for
five years and has made a considerable impact not only on her classes, but also on PE across both
schools. She will be missed greatly by all staff but we wish her well in the next stage in her career. We
must thank Ali for her hard work and high standard of teaching, alongside being a superb member of the
school team.
The Leadership team and Staffing Committee of the Governing Body will be advertising for a new
teacher to join us in September.
Helen Martin, Head Teacher
‘Hawking About’
On Friday 15th May, ‘Hawking About’ will be visiting both schools to give us special displays
and tell us all about their hawks and owls. If there is any reason why your child should not
be present for this display, please do let us know in good time.
A letter will be coming home to tell you more about it, but in the meantime please note
that we will be asking for a donation of £3 per child to cover the cost of this visit.
Forest School
Please try to remember that children MUST bring a waterproof jacket in for their Forest School
sessions – even if the weather looks fine!
Duncton Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club at Duncton is now well established
and the number of pupils attending is starting to grow.
With Graffham Club being full on most days , remember
that you are able to drop Graffham children at Duncton
and they will be taken across on Toni’s minibus.
The club starts at 8:15 and there will always be a warm
welcome if you would like to give it a try. It is helpful to
let the office know in advance, but if something crops up,
you can just drop off on the day. The cost is £1.50 per
day.
‘Match Attacks’ at Duncton
In recent weeks we have become aware of the game 'Match Attacks' being played in school at playtimes
at Duncton. Part of this has been the trading and swapping of cards which has, in some situations,
caused issues between children. We are keen to ensure this does not become a problem within school. As
a middle ground, rather than banning the cards completely, we are asking that the Match Attack cards
are only brought into school on a Friday, if at all. We are happy for the children to play the game that
accompanies the cards on Fridays but we ask that no trading takes place in school. Many thanks.
This was found at Duncton last week. We would love to
reunite toy and owner! Please let the Duncton office
know if you think you may know who it belongs to.
Reminder : The Book People
Remember that new books are available to order at great prices, in the foyer at both schools. Payments
will be collected and ordered books left with the two offices, next Friday 8th May.
