Mentor Information Pack Community Leadership Program 2015 Benefits in Mentoring Do you have a passion for people and want to assist in the development of someone’s potential? Would you like to: Enhance your skills in coaching, counselling and listening Develop and practice a more personal style of leadership Learn new perspectives and approaches Extend professional networks Training and support will be provided throughout the program. Aims The Greater Shepparton City Council Community Leadership program is aimed to develop community leaders within the Greater Shepparton municipality who wish to increase their leadership potential and influence within the community. Mentors will play an essential role in the program through providing one on one guidance, support and advice to the participants in between the workshops. Role & Responsibilities of Mentors Provide guidance, support and advice to a participant from the Community Leadership program. Develop a mutually cooperative and supportive partnership with their mentee. Encourage the mentee to reach their potential. Assist mentee to apply learning’s from the workshops in the community setting. Help mentee to identify and develop future goals. Maintain confidentiality within the mentoring partnership. Seek guidance from program facilitator should conflict or any issues arise. Promote and encourage networking opportunities for the mentee. Provide awareness of community resources available within Greater Shepparton. Mentor Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to encourage and motivate others Willingness to share knowledge Possesses good interpersonal communication skills Ability to commit time to be a mentor Ability to develop partnerships and act as a positive role model M15/017370 Commitment The program commences in April and will finish in November 2015. Mentors will meet with their mentees approximately one hour per fortnight, alternating with the program’s workshop sessions.
