Keep your fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that the saying ‘In like a lion,
out like a lamb’ holds true for this coming month. Never in my life have I seen a
thermometer drop as low as it has this last week.
We’d like to congratulate Ron & Bette Klann
on a couple achievements. They have been
selected the State Family of the Year and are
now officially our Region F Board of Director
representatives. Both titles are well deserved
and we know they are up to the challenge and
will serve us well. We feel they will go far in
the Family of the Year process. Ron has been a
GWTA member since the organization’s
founding and Bette joined GWTA in 1999
when they got married at Gold Rush. They

have held several officer positions within Michigan Chapter H including Chapter
Director and have served as Michigan State Directors for several years. They
were also instrumental in establishing the All Chapter State Color Tour in
October several years ago, an event that many of us have enjoyed participating in.
A clip from their bio it states that “A good part of our life style revolves around
GWTA and the many friendships made, thus “Destination Friendship”. Our most
favorite pastime is planning and traveling on our 2001 Wing across the USA for
the national rally, a local rally or just a day trip. Every trip is a vacation when you
can share it with 5 or 6 couples in the planning and sightseeing. Each year we so
look forward to the National Rally allowing us to visit a new location, visit with
old friends that we may see once a year and of course start a new planning
process. We are proud to be part of the GWTA traditions.” Congratulations to
the Klann’s!!

They were all outstanding and
creative, but alas, only one can win.
That winner was… (drum roll
please)…Earl Blackburn of Chapter
H. Details have to be worked out
between Eric, Earl, and the printer
on the colors to be added to the logo
and the color choice for the shirts.
We look forward to seeing a finished
product.
Coming up in March is the Chapter M bowling event. This will take place March
22nd at Fraser Star Lanes in Fraser. Doors open at 11am and the bowling starts
at noon. This is $15/person if you bowl & enjoy the pizza lunch. If you just want
to come and meet up with the group and enjoy a pizza and pop lunch, the cost is
$6/person. We’ve had a lot of laughs and a very good time in previous years.

Mark your calendar for full day of entertainment in the Jackson area on April 11th
starting at 10am. I will condense the offerings for the day, but to get full details,
please see the flyer Anna Edwards has put together on gwtaofmichigan.com. The
day starts out at Ye Ole Carriage shop in Spring Arbor, MI. This is a glimpse
into the personal collection of Lloyd Ganton’s automobiles and Coca Cola
memorabilia.

interesting historical venues. The main course for the day is a tour of the Ella
Sharp Museum in Jackson. This
promises to have something for
everyone and then some. Anna
has made arrangements with the
museum to get us in the door and
have a catered lunch for

off the day, the dessert if you will,
is a chance to tour cellblock 7 at
the State Prison of Southern
Michigan. This is approximately
a 1½ hour tour and costs
What does Harry Houdini, the Michigan State Director and
$12/person. You’ll get to do the the National Family of the Year have in common? They
time without doing the crime! For are all going to be at Ella Sharpe Museum in Jackson for
more details on this part of the the Spring Fling on April 11, 2015. Please join us for a fun
day, visit www.cellblock7.org. filled day among GWTA friends.
Anna has worked on this day for
us and we appreciate all the time and effort put into its planning. It promises to
have something for everyone and you can pick and choose which events you want
to attend. We hope to at least be all together for the Ella Sharp museum and
luncheon. A registration form is attached, you will need to preregister.
The Michigan State Rally will once again be held at the Osceola Fairgrounds in
Evart, MI. This will take place June 18th thru 21st. The registration form is
attached with details on lodging & camping. If you choose to stay at the Osceola
Grand, be sure to mention you are part of GWTA as they have a block of rooms
set up for us with a special rate.
Gold Rush will be held in Albuquerque, NM July 13-16. Registrations for
members is $50/person before June 1st. You can register on line with a credit card
or print the form and mail in your check. You can see and print the registration
at gwta.org.
Lastly, please remember to buy/sell GWTA raffle tickets. This is a source of
income that keeps our great organization running. We all need to do our part to
to help keep the numbers in the black. This simple step gives you an opportunity
to do that with a chance to make back your money. We all play the lottery from
time to time and your chances with GWTA raffle tickets have better odds. Good
