Tony Stoller will lecture on
'Winning Hearts and Minds: the key to tackling climate change?'
In the light of the commitment to sustainability at Britain Yearly Meeting in Canterbury
in 2011, and with the crucial international Paris conference on climate change at the
end of this year, Tony will consider the present state of opinion about global warming,
and consider how positive attitudes can be translated into effective action.

Isle of Wight
Saturday 8th, 2.30 – 6.00 The Island Quakers Garden Party (indoors if
wet) with swimming,
at the home of Bob and Sue Johnson, Dock House, St Catherine's Road, Niton, Isle of
Wight. Bring and buy stall and good conversation. Food contributions welcome and
there will be a collection for Quaker Work in Britain.

Winchester
Sunday 2nd at 11.30: Experiences in Nepal
After Meeting for worship, Beth Halford will talk to us about her experiences in Nepal
and the work of her charity which we support, Himalayan Peoples Project - Nepal.
Beth will speak briefly about her experience in the recent earthquakes in Nepal, but
the main emphasis of her talk will be what the charity is doing, and will continue to do,
in order to help the earthquake victims (which covers almost everyone in Nepal!).
Sunday 2nd at 12.30ish (after Beth’s talk) –
Celebration of Vernon Baker’s 100th birthday (on the 1st).
‘Bring-and-share’ lunch to which everyone is cordially invited. All contributions of food
will be gratefully received.
Sunday 9th, 12.00 – 1.00: The Peace and Justice group will be joining a day’s
silent vigil outside the cathedral.
It is the 70th anniversary year of the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. All are invited to attend; you don’t have to stay for the full hour.

Fareham
Every Friday, from 7.30pm to 8.15pm,
There will be meetings for worship in Cafe iMBiZO, on West Street.
This is next to, and owned by, the Community Church. It is a newish venue and we
hope that Fareham Friends will not need to move again. The name is from Zulu and
means ‘A cultural gathering of hearts and minds’.
Refreshments will be available to purchase afterwards.
