Heritage Academy Scholarship Award Information
Purpose
The objective of this annual prize is to honor a former Heritage Academy student with a monetary
award to further his/her education. The ideal candidate will have attended Heritage Academy for three
(3) or more years and will have excelled in service and extra-curricular activities. The winner will have
exemplified the Heritage Academy values of rigor, responsibility and relationship.
Award
One thousand dollars ($1,000) to be used at a post-secondary educational institution.
Criteria
 Senior in high school.
 Attended Heritage Academy for 3 or more years
 Academic excellence - a GPA of 3.5 or greater AND an SAT score greater than or equal to 80
NPR or an SAT score within the top 10% in the county where the student attends high school.
 Citizenship/Leadership activities, including but not limited to: service on student council,
volunteer organizations, leadership in church youth groups, etc.
 Extracurricular activities, including but not limited to: sports, drama, debate, music, arts,
academic teams.
Application
1. Cover sheet with name, contact information, and years of attendance at Heritage Academy
2. Most current official transcript
3. Typed essay (150-200 words)
Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted
you to act? What was the outcome? Would you do it again?

Two (2) teacher recommendations (must be from one current and one former teacher)
Interview (possible if additional information is needed)
Determination
A candidate will mail, email or fax his/her application by May 7th of senior year to Heritage Academy at
the address below. A committee consisting of one administrator, one teacher and one board member
will review applications and if needed, conduct interviews.
Winner will be announced by May 15th and presented at the end of year program on May 22nd.
