Grimmway Academy
We are seeking a highly skilled special education teacher to join our staff at Grimmway
Academy.
Teacher Responsibilities will include:
● Preparing and implementing lesson plans that lead to student understanding
based on state standards
● Providing an effective learning environment that reflects and facilitates student
achievement
● Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
● Writing and conducting IEPs and facilitating IEP meetings
● Proctoring Formal Assessments (Woodcock-Johnson)
● Updating Service Logs and Files
● Communicate with partnering agencies
● Participating in SST Meetings
● Maintaining frequent communication with students, students’ families,
colleagues, and the Special Education Director
● Participating regularly in professional development opportunities
Requirements:
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
● A Bachelor’s Degree
● A California Education Specialist Credential
● Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn SIRUS, IEP writing and Special Ed
Reporting Software
● Familiarity with and/or the ability to learn RTI, Co-teaching, Collaboration, PushIn, Pull-out, Learning Lab Intervention and small-group teaching models
● Demonstrated mastery of classroom skills including classroom management,
planning, assessment and instructional practice
● Proficiency with various technologies and teaching tools
● Bilingual ability preferred

Selection Criteria:
Selection will be based on teaching experience, the degree of subject matter
expertise, and the ability to demonstrate classroom effectiveness. Experience working
with low-income students and English learners is a plus.
