Study Guide – Final Exam – 2014-2015 German I – Providence High School Breakdown of the exam: #1-10: Listening section: For each one of the following sets of pictures you will hear a single sentence stated twice. Choose the picture that best matches what you hear. #11-14: Listening - Refer to a map. Decide whether the directions are true or false #15-20: You will hear 6 questions – Choose the most logical response #21 – 35: Reading portions – you will read several short items, and answer questions based on the reading selections (e.g. ads, e-mails, etc.) The listening & reading portions above will include vocabulary from all year, but particularly the Unit 4 themes (transportation; directions; to the/in the; places in the city; clothing; chores) #36-45: Unit I – Grammar & Structures: - ‘sein’ forms & ‘haben’ forms Question words (who / when / where / what / why / where to / where from / which) Nominative pronouns Ordinal #’s #46-55: Unit II – Grammar & Structures: - ‘wissen’ vs. ‘kennen’ + forms of ‘wissen’ Verb conjugation – regular verbs Verb order in basic sentences Identifying the nominative / accusative in a sentence (+ knowing the questions) Knowing the der-/ein-charts for nominative & accusative #56-64: Unit III – Grammar & Structures: - Stem-Vowel Change verbs – What the patterns are; which forms change; know all forms Modal Verbs – Know all modal verbs - including definitions, forms & verb order rules ‘werden’ – know all forms & how to use in a sentence Weather expressions #65-75: Unit IV – Grammar & Structures: - Know the questions for Nominative/Accusative/Dative Be able to identify / label the Nom/Acc/Dat in sentences Know the der- / ein-charts for Nominative/Accusative/Dative Know all the ‘to the’ (which are zum/zur/in die) expressions Know all the ‘at/in the’ (which are ‘beim’ or ‘im’ vs. ‘bei der’ or ‘in der’) expressions Know all Nominative / Accusative / Dative pronouns! (e.g. er – ihn – ihm) Know all the separable-prefix verbs & definitions from notes & vocab Know verb order rules of separable prefix verbs – including how used with modal verbs #76-100: Stadtprojekt Presentation – makes up 25% of Final Exam Grade
