We will start from Dehradun as following: Fixed Departure Dates: 12th April’15 (Day 1) to 17th April’15 (Day 5), DDN to DDN www.himalayatrekker.com 1 © 2015 Himalaya Trekkers The Trek Highlights: Length: 6 days from Dehradun to Dehradun; 4 days of trekking. Walking from Sankri and back around 22 Km. Access: Trains/Flights to New Delhi or directly to Dehradun (Jolly Grant). One can reach Dehradun via overnight trains/buses from New Delhi and can return to New Delhi from Dehradun overnight. Drive to Sankri is around 200 km via Mussorie, Yamuna Bridge, Naogaon, Purola, Mori and Netwar. Highest Point: Kedarkantha peak ~ 3820m/12,500ft Grade: Easy, snow in winter/spring Seasons: March to June, October to December About Kedarkantha Trek: Kedarkantha Peak (3820m) is situated in Govind National Park of Western Garhwal. Surrounding Tons river valley, with remote villages, snow capped mountain ranges in the horizon, and rich flora and fauna of the national park makes the short and easy walk to the Kedarkantha peak a enjoyable hiking experience. In clear weather, the renowned peaks like, Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black Peak can be seen from the summit. In winter or spring, the trail remains covered with fresh snow. Snow patches amidst giant pine forest and snow covered meadows, in altitude as low as 10,000ft, even in late April, makes this trek a unique one. Access to Snakri (The trek base): Depending upon the trek members we can arrange a pickup and drop either from Dehradun to Sankri and back. This will be shared by the team members upon agreement and is approximately 6000 Rs one side and is divided by the number of trekkers using the car. One such car can accommodate 6 to 8 people. 1) There are 2/3 privately operated buses from Dehradun (near DDN railway station on Gandhi road) to Sankri. The 200 Km journey will take around 10/12 hours. However the details are mentioned below: Two nights stay at Sankri (Day 1 & Day 5) in homestay on sharing basis and dinner. The trek fee. Any equipment required during the trek. Regular Indian style vegetarian Food during trek including breakfast, packed/hot lunch (depending upon the time one reaches a campsite), snacks and dinner with tea/coffee and choice of soups. Porter/Mules cost Specialised cook and helpers to prepare the food during the trek. Excellent Mountain Guide, who will be a local to this particular area and has profound knowledge of the trekking trail as well as vast experience in trekking on Himalayas. We would reduce the load of the trekkers by carrying the sleeping bags and other non essential things which trekkers will not require while walking and will be carried by our mules/porters. We adjust the load accordingly that a trekker has to carry around 5/6 Kg load comfortably and can enjoy the beauty of nature at its best. However if any trekker needs a porter to carry his/her personal rucksack then the same has to be informed us at least a week before starting the trek. The arrangement of the same will be done with an additional charge of Rs 1500/bag (Not weighing more than 10Kg) for the entire duration of the trek.
