Anti Ink.
•
Company information: Anti Sweden has
risen! We at the Norwegian design office
Anti wanted to use our experience and
knowledge of design to create our own
brand - a brand that reflected our love of
fashion, of graphic design, and which
reflected the unremitting darkness that is at
the heart of the Norwegian identity and is
the seat of true Black Metal. Anti Sweden is
that unholy creation! We are aiming to once
again take rebellion back to black jeans!
As Norwegians we dare to challenge our
bigger neighbors, Sweden, who are
renowned worldwide for their recognisable
Scandinavian brands, notably Acne and
Cheap Monday. With Anti Sweden we are
now taking up the friendly fight that has
existed between our two countries ever
since the liquidation of the alliance in 1905.
While minimalism is at the heart of both
Scandinavian countries, we Norwegians
embrace the dark and the occult as central
to our identity. Anti Sweden is Black Metal
going fashion.

Company information: Back App AS

Distribution channels in Finland:
develops, produces and sells office chairs
that exercise the stabilizing muscles of the
back so that people around the world can
experience better health and comfort. The
idea to the Back App chair came to founder
Freddy Johnsen as sudden as lightning; a
chair where you sit on a ball (a balance
board) with your feet on a feet plate
connected to a damping material, which
support stability and soften all movements.
The Back App has been well received by
independent back experts and users because
of its abilities to strengthen the back
muscles. It is also gratifying to see that also
designers give recognition to Back App.

Northern Lighting AS
•
Company information: Northern Lighting is
a Norwegian creator of lights. We produce
designer lamps and lights for different moods
which are inspired by the unique Nordic
nature, the culture and the very special
natural light which surrounds us.
The seasons vary dramatically in Norway,
something which makes light very important
for us Norwegians. Everything from the
midnight sun to the northern lights affects
our vision of the moods that light can create.
It is these moods which have created
Northern Lighting and which have inspired
our designers to create a distinctive range of
lamps.
Those who make our lamps are both young
and up-and-coming talent and recognised
designers. Despite the different level of
experience, they all have one thing in
common: They are fiery souls who are
fascinated by the mood-creating possibilities
of light.

with subtle details. These have more
often than not a functioning aspect to
it as well as the decorative. I’d like to
challenge people's idea of what
tableware is and can be. When
approaching my design I want people
to be intrigued, surprised and that
they think twice about how it is made.
The models are made in plaster on the
lathe, and then altered by hand. I find
that this gives my design the
originality I search for- I pursue a
touch of the handmade. The products
are all made of slip casted porcelain,
glazed and fired to 1260 degrees.

Scandinavian Surface
•
Company information: Scandinavian Surface
is situated in Bergen "The West Coast City" of
Norway.
Always seeking to capture the Norwegian
freshness we transform it into wearable and
decorative “pieces” of Scandinavian surface.
Scandinavian Surface was started in 2004 when
we also had our first international show at
100% Design, London. We were granted the
International 100% Foundation Award for best
international newcomer.
All 4 partners are designers and have been
working in fine art previous to founding the
company. A growing interest in design for
industrial production made us realize that we
could use our skills to produce pattern design
for various surfaces. Our philosophy is to make
patterns for any surface. Our ambition is to
always make the optimal quality designs.
Since 2008 Scandinavian Surface has been
working with manufacturer Photowall, designing
wallpaper. In September 2009 we launched
PanelPiece, a new wall decor product, at 100%
Design in London. Participating in the show in
Helsinki in January and Stockholm Furniture
Fair in February are our first steps to bring
PanelPiece out into the world!

Ladies’ city slipper low and medium

Company information: Growing up with
four distinct seasons in Norway, I never let
go of the black rubber galoshes that my late
grandfather passed on to me. In 1999 they
accompanied me to a rainy Paris. Wearing
Chuck Taylor’s Converse and galoshes, my
footwear became the subject of many jokes
around the art school I attended. Later, while
living in New York, I blended in with an
image-conscious culture that defied slushy
streets, freezing winds and pouring rain.
Naturally, this resulted in a lot of discomfort
and many ruined pairs of shoes.
A few more Manhattan winters went by while
I searched for the right product before I
finally took matters in my own hands and
decided to develop SWIMS - The Modern
Galosh! A stylish solution, embodying the
essence of practicality: Wear your favorite
shoes, slip on SWIMS when the weather is
rough, slip’em off when you arrive at your
destination. Enhanced comfort is assured and
your shoes are guaranteed to stay shiny.

Viking fottøy AS: Anaconda
Design by IDW Inc.,
Portland, Oregon, USA:
The collaboration between Viking
Footwear and Boa® Technology
started two years ago. Viking saw
the need for a lightweight and
functional hiking shoe. It was
essential that the shoe would fit
perfectly- easy to put on and take
off. Choosing the Boa® Lacing
System was the easy part; it met
all the essential criteria.
Product developers, designers,
engineers and technicians work
together to make functional
outdoor footwear that meets the
demands of the Norwegian
outdoors. To challenge the
laws of nature.

Viking fottøy AS: Thermo Ultra
Designer Rudi Scherf
•
Vikings PU boot is made of
Polyurethane which gives the
product unique qualities:
When making the Thermo boot,
millions of tiny air bubbles are
created in the material during the
process. The air bubbles reduce
the weight at the same time as
they isolate extremely well.
That’s why Viking Thermo is
much lighter and warmer than
boots made of PVC or rubber.
