HONEYDEW SAPS: CRIME BRIEF
TOWNHOUSE ROBBERIES CONTINUE
Townhouse residents are once again urged to look after their own security especially during the
evenings and early hours of the morning. Ensure that your doors are properly LOCKED and
windows and curtains are CLOSED when going to sleep. DO NOT leave any keys visible near
open windows or in doors. Ensure alarms, beams and electric fences are armed.
Currently Townhouses are being targeted in Sector 3, especially in the following suburbs:
Ruimsig, Honeydew (Honey Complexes) and Lazerpark. The suspects gain entry through the
sliding doors and the backdoors. If you have sliding doors ensure that you install extra locks or
“dead” bolts, as well as security gates, so that it makes it more difficult to gain access through
these doors.
Residents are urged NOT to go outside alone in the early morning hours (02:00 till 05:00), as
incidents have been reported where residents were attacked/targeted during these hours while for
going outside to smoke.
RECORD YOU’RE SERIAL NUMBERS:
The suspects mostly take laptops, TV sets and cell phones. Residents are again requested to
ensure that they record the serial numbers, make and model of all electronic equipment especially
their laptops and keep these details in a safe place. When reporting this type of property stolen,
please supply your serial numbers in order to circulate the stolen property.
HI-JACKING WARNING!!!
Residents are urged to please to very careful when arriving of leaving their residence. Be on the
lookout for any suspicious persons in the street or movement at your gate; where possible ensure
that you have adequate light at your entrance and that there are no obstructions (big shrubs etc.).
When approaching your street look in your mirrors for any vehicle following you and rather drive
around the block to make sure you are not being followed, especially when you are returning from
the airport.
As soon as you have entered your property immediately close and lock your gate before alighting
from the vehicle. DO NOT leave the gate open while you are busy off-loading goods into the
house.
