 JOB POSTING Position Title: Prince Rupert Aboriginal Labour Market Community Navigator Name & Title of Supervisor: Coordinator, NRT CEO and NRT General Manager Position Overview: Inform First Nations community members about Aboriginal labour market opportunities in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and other industries. Specific Accountabilities: • Work with industry, training providers and government to identify employment opportunities and skills training required to qualify for jobs with LNG proponents linking skills training directly to employment opportunities; • Network with regional training providers (e.g. ASETS, WorkBC, ITA, public post-­‐secondary institutions, Aboriginal post-­‐secondary institutions, etc.) to determine options for community based training, apprenticeships and trades training programs; • Provide advice and information about available supports and services to clients, expected levels of support, eligibility requirements and assist with the completion of necessary forms; • Work with the Coordinator to implement marketing and communication plans to convey a common message on how to best utilize training resources and how to increase awareness of community based opportunities and successes; • Work with Coordinator to identify skills gaps and summarize recommendations on how to close these gaps at the community level; • Conduct information sharing sessions and community meetings on training opportunities, employment/labour gaps, and skills gaps; • Produce monthly/annual reports and present them to the Coordinator in accordance to reporting requirements; • Serves as a conduit of information to funding partners related to skills development and labour market challenges and opportunities; • Will be required to work outside standard hours; • Will be required to work under tight deadlines; • Involves regular travel. Education/Work Experience: • Post-­‐secondary education in community or economic development, public administration, or other related topics; and/or commensurate experience; • Proven direct experience working with First Nations people; • Personal experience with or knowledge of the skills training and employment challenges encountered by First Nations people; • Experience working with community based teams. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of management leadership • Knowledge of skills training and employment programs • Knowledge of client groups and/or issues related to skills training and employment needs • Solid knowledge of local community resources and services Proficiency in the use of Computer Applications: • Word processing • Database (Excel) • Spreadsheets • Email • Internet Location of Position: Must be willing to travel across British Columbia.
