ICEA’s CEO will serve under a standard executive 24 month fixed term employment contract.

As a leader and executive decision maker for the organisation, the CEO’s primary focus will be to deliver upon the
vision and goals of ICEA, lead ICEA through its transition from a grassroots not for profit organization into a sustainable
entity.
The CEO will manage and sustain the work of ICEA, and provide leadership and strategic direction to all volunteers,
employees, the board, its consultants, sponsors and stakeholders and ultimately the indigenous and non-indigenous
wider community which ICEA represents.
Managing the establishment of organisational processes, high level presentation, speaking and networking and
connecting to indigenous communities, moving toward ICEA’s goal of reconciliation.
The CEO will be the key individual within ICEA accountable for fundraising, finances and ensuring the survival of the
organization and delivering upon the organisation’s goals and vision.

Leading by example, being well connected in the indigenous community and respected by the wider community
High level networker and regular public speaker/presenter at related events in various sectors
Develop and implement ICEA’s strategic plan
Developing and managing relationships and communicating with key stakeholders
Creating ICEA’s annual budget and board reports, responsible for material business decisions;
Ensuring meeting all legal and fiduciary responsibilities
Ensuring ICEAs outcomes and metrics evaluating ICEA’s impact are effective, practical and in line with the vision
and goals of the organisation, and regularly measuring/reviewing its performance and effectiveness using those
metrics
Coordinating an annual performance evaluation of the COO and Administrator
Assisting the Chair and Nominating Committee in recruiting board members
Periodically consulting with board members on ICEA strategy and performance
Ensure that board resolutions are carried out
Acting as an ambassador for the organisation
Grooming volunteers within the organization for more senior positions, including the future CEO
Securing future funding for organization operational expenses
Arrange regular speaking opportunities to promote and increase awareness of ICEA and its vision
Attend related and relevant events, forums and conferences locally and nationally
Enter competitions and awards ceremonies to raise profile of ICEA
Follows up new networking leads for sponsorship/funding opportunities
Regularly meet/talk with relevant stakeholders in; remote schools programs, local & remote

In collaboration with the COO, fostering ICEA’s overall financial health, and appropriate management of those
finances.

2015: New board, strategic plan, sound budget, DGR status, secure future funding sources for salaried
positions and delivery of programs

2016: Review longer term strategy and organization vision, measures and areas to focus for effective growth
•
Works closely with ICEA Chair and board, delivers board directives.
•
Provides leadership and support to ICEA program co-ordinators
•
Works closely with exec team, financial, operational, volunteer management and sponsorship and partnership

Qualifications

University qualifications preferable
Legal or Financial qualifications/experience preferable.
Demonstrated experience starting or growing a NFP organisation.
Achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.
VERY IMPORTANT - His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified,
high-performing board members and source funds.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
• Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business,
government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.
• Demonstrated success as a nonprofit board member or board chair for a listed organization
• Track record of building credibility in the funding community that has resulted in major gifts to a
nonprofit organisation
• A commitment to ICEA’s vision of reconciliation
• Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening,
facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
•
Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with natural affinity for public speaking

$52,122.93 (inclusive of superannuation) package, which includes salary sacrifice options and access to
a mobile phone, laptop and vehicle for work purposes.
