DAAD-Alumni Meeting in Toronto, Canada
DAAD-Alumni Meeting in Toronto, Canada
May 1-2, 2015
Invitation to Apply
Dear DAAD Alumni,
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) regularly organizes meetings for our former
scholarship holders throughout the world. Our intention with these events is to allow our alumni to
maintain, renew, or intensify the professional and personal ties that help to create a valuable
worldwide network. I write you today to announce that the DAAD and our partner the Alexander
von Humboldt Foundation are planning a major alumni meeting in Canada for our grant
recipients. I would like to encourage you to consider joining us at what promises to be a most
stimulating event.
This meeting will take place on May 1-2, 2015 under the title:
„Migration and Multiculturalism in Germany and Canada“.
The event will be presented in a conference format with an interdisciplinary approach and feature
contributions from Canadian and German scholars that illuminate the conference theme from a
variety of perspectives. To facilitate the participation of all our Canadian alumni, the conference
will be conducted in English.
In addition to the academic content outlined above, the conference will also include a number of
opportunities for networking and socializing to allow participants to make the acquaintance of as
many of their fellow alumni as possible.
st
The conference will take place over two days beginning on the evening of Friday, May 1 with a
nd
reception and dinner and continue on Saturday, May 2 with a one-day conference at the Munk
School for Global Affairs on the downtown campus of the University of Toronto. On Saturday
evening, conference participants will take part in a dinner boat cruise on Toronto harbour.
The DAAD would like to invite you to submit an application to participate in this event. Attendees
will receive a subsidy to cover travel costs to and from Toronto, two nights accommodation at the
Holiday Inn Bloor Street and all meals taken during the conference itself. Further logistical details
including information on how to apply to participate and a preliminary conference program can be
found below.
I hope you will consider applying to participate in this conference and am looking forward to
meeting you all in Toronto.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Dorothea Rüland
Secretary General
DAAD German Academic Exchange Service
