Certificate IV in TESOL
Inspire Education (RTO # 32067) will provide you firstclass training and student support while you undertake
your studies in the Nationally Accredited Certificate IV in
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL
40649SA). Inspire Education offers a range of Nationally
Recognised training options designed to meet the needs of

Training Delivery
This course has been specifically designed to develop the basic
skills needed to teach English to speakers of other
languages. It is an internationally recognised qualification in
teaching English to international students and a wonderful
qualification to have in your employability ‘tool kit’.
Inspire Education offers the Certificate IV in TESOL via Online/
Distance Learning or Blended delivery.
Online/Distance Learning: This is the most popular method of
delivery as Inspire have a continual intake of students on this
basis. Students study at their own pace and have 12 months to
complete the course from their enrolment date.
Blended Delivery: Consists of a 5 day face-to-face workshop
component to complete the majority of projects, plus 6 months to
complete the remainder of your qualification via practical
placement and online learning.

To complete your studies you will need to have access to:

During your studies, you will be required to arrange and complete at
least 6 hours of workplace practical delivery with a minimum of four
ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
Entry Requirements
All applicants, whether native or non-native speakers of English,
must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language
competence, both written and spoken, that enables them to
undertake the course. To start your Cert IV TESOL you must:
Have,
as a minimum, completed Year 12 or equivalent
and be 18 years or older OR
Evidence
of year 12 English equivalent or greater
qualification.
If evidence of year 12 English equivalent or greater cannot be
provided applicants will need to pass Inspire Education’s Language,
Literacy and Numeracy Entry Assessment before commencing the
TESOL course.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is offered to any Learner who can provide evidence of
competency for the units offered within this qualification.
This can include any previous training (formal or informal) of previous
life or work experience. The RPL process is really straightforward,
simply indicate on your enrolment form that you would like to apply for
RPL and once your enrolment is confirmed, you will receive an RPL
pack to help with evidence collection. Your trainer will also call to go
through any potential RPL opportunities you may have. Simple!
Qualification Pathways
The Certificate IV in TESOL is suitable for anyone looking to gain
employment as an ESOL teacher or tutor in Australia or overseas.
However to teach in Australia, additional professional teaching
qualifications and experience may be required. To teach under NEAS
a trainer will need to hold the Certificate IV in TESOL plus a full 3
year Degree as a minimum.
Once enrolled in this course you may also consider
additional training to complement your English Teaching
skills:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (this is a
requirement for anyone wishing to teach in TAFE)
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care - for
those looking to specialise in teaching children.
Certificate III in Education Support - for those interested in
providing education support services in schools.
The Certificate IV in TESOL also enables entry into the:
Diploma of Teaching English to Speakers of Other
Languages.

Our 40649SA Certificate IV in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages is
comprised of a total of 5 core units.
Course Clustering
Our Cert IV TESOL course design uses a “clustered” approach. This means we have combined our
course into just three workbooks: Knowledge; Design; and Delivery (instead of 5 separate units). This
holistic approach means that our students are able to study at a good pace and gain an understanding
quicker because learning and assessment tasks are not duplicated across multiple units.
