NexentaConnect for VMware Horizon Datasheet Cisco and Nexenta Team to Deliver Vitual Desktop The Cisco UCS platform solution with NexentaConnect for VMware Horizon enables rapid virtual desktop deployment, improves scalability and simplifies provisioning of storage for virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI). Running with NexentaConnect software, this solution can deploy up to 1,600 desktops in a single UCS blade chassis with UCS C240 rack servers providing storage. This is the only VDI solution running entirely on a Cisco UCS platform. These desktop deployment pods provide a comprehensive environment with compute, networking, storage and virtualization functionality fully integrated while working with the Cisco server platform. Based on ZFS technology with inline compression and support for hybrid storage pools, customers can now provision the required performance (IOPS) for the desktops in an automated fashion, effectively eliminating the potential for human error and slow desktop performance. The use of advanced caching algorithms as well as better hardware utilization provide for a cost effective, high performance desktop virtualization solution. NexentaConnect greatly simplifies the lifecycle management of deploying, managing, and calibrating storage and VDI. It is based on a user-‐friendly application, with a simple ‘click to deploy’ approach, creating synergy between the desktop, hypervisor, and storage that has never before been achieved.
