EVO: RAIL Solutions Brief
SuperMicro and Nexenta deliver software based
hyper-convergence adding full featured file
services to EVO: RAIL Systems
Supermicro’s EVO: RAIL appliance is a Hyper-converged infrastructure appliance. It combines
compute, networking and storage resources into a single 2U, 4-node form factor to create a
simple, easy-to-deploy building block for the Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC).
By integrating NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN with the EVO: RAIL appliance,
Supermicro provides a more complete software defined hyper-converged solution with a
unified virtual machine and file storage system
Providing file services for the underlying
VMware Virtual SAN component of EVO: RAIL,
NexentaConnect adds NFS and SMB access on
top of the integrated storage to complete the
software hyper-convergence model. Additional
enterprise class services are also included in the
files services, including ad-hoc and scheduled
snapshots and compression, all while fully
integrated into the VMware vCenter Web Client.
Fault tolerance, reliability and automatic scale-out are key features implemented though
VMware software technologies and Supermicro hardware designs. EVO: RAIL’s innovative
interface allows for virtual machine creation within twenty minutes of installation.
Supermicro’s EVO: RAIL appliance with NexentaConnect for VMware Virtual SAN is ordered via
a single SKU and backed by Supermicro Global Service as a single point of contact for hardware
and software support.
