YOUR ARRIVAL
Your a rriva l a t Verona Airport
Once you've collected your luggage you’ll find your Thomson team waiting for you. Please let us
know if you’re having any baggage problems, or if you need any special assistance so we can help.
There are luggage trolleys available in the baggage hall, they cost £1 or €1 which is refundable.
Our team will tell you where to find your coach or taxi for your transfer to Bardolino. There may
be customers arriving from other flights on your transfer, so we'll do our best to keep you
informed of any waiting time before your vehicle leaves for the resort.
Tra nsfer to your resort
When your transfer is ready to leave for Bardolino, we'll let you know an estimated journey time
and explain the route, including any stops or drop-offs along the way.
Generally, the transfer from Verona airport to Bardolino takes around 60 minutes. To reduce
transfer times, sometimes you may wait for a short while at the airport for additional flights to
land. In these circumstances, your travelling time to your resort will usually be less, as the coach
will stop at fewer resorts along the way.
Just so you know, sometimes our transfer vehicles can’t make it right to the door of your
accommodation, so there might be a short walk, possibly carrying your luggage, to get to the
entrance of your accommodation.
If you've booked car hire prior to your departure, please contact a Thomson Holiday Advisor at
the airport - they'll be able to direct you to the car hire office.
If you’re travelling to your resort by car or train, you’ll find some information waiting for you at
your accommodation reception, so you can arrange to meet your Holiday Advisor.
Check in a nd settle in
When you arrive at your accommodation, it’s usual for reception to request your passport.
If you have any dietary requirements this is an ideal time to inform reception. Alternatively, you
can contact us on [email protected] and we’ll let your accommodation know before
you arrive on holiday.
Please report any issues or requests you have to your accommodation reception. If anything
remains unresolved, please contact your Thomson Holiday Advisor, who will be happy to help.
Safety standards with regards to balconies differ in Italy. You may be staying in a room with a
balcony that is lower than we would expect in the UK. Please take care when on the balcony and
do not lean on or over the railings. Children aged 12 and under must be supervised and not left
unattended on the balcony at any time.

GETTING AROUND
Here are the basics to help you get around Bardolino and the surrounding area.
Buses
There are 2 buses in Bardolino, the first bus is the local tourist bus that runs from Bardolino
around the outskirts all the way to Cisano, It costs €1.30 per trip and is not discounted before
travel.
The second is the ATV public bus service which covers the east coast of Lake Garda, from
Verona/Peschiera to Malcesine. Tickets are valid until you use them, as they are not dated. When
you board the bus validate the ticket by inserting it in the machine next to the driver. Buses
depart from the main bus station near the tourist information, but there are stops along the main
road which may be closer to your hotel.
The public buses are great for the local area. For longer journeys it is always best to plan your
return journey ahead of time. The buses can often be busy and you are not guaranteed a seat.
Your ATV bus tickets can be purchased before you travel from the Tourist Information centre in
Bardolino or many of the Tobacconists in town. This is often a little cheaper then buying
your ticket on the bus.

changed a lot in recent years, there are fewer ferries so it may take longer and will be more
expensive than you might think.
The ferry port in Bardolino is located by Piazza Catullo. You buy tickets from the ticket office
(Biglieteria). There are reductions available for children and those over 65, Monday to Friday with
ID. The ticket office opens 20 minutes before the ferry is due to depart, so it is a good idea to be
there early to purchase your ticket.

Advisor, together with an explanation of how to use it. Happy sailing.

restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. Here you will find recommendations from the Thomson in
resort team and our customers.
Caprice Pizzeria
Caprice is the oldest pizzaria in Bardolino. It's located in the heart of the old town on Via Mameli.
They serve amazing fish dishes and traditional pizza and pasta. The mussels come highly
recommended, also try dipping the fresh bread in some of their home made olive oil and
Modena balsamic vinegar before your main meal.
*Receive an apertivo, prosecco, and bottle of limoncello at the end of your meal for free and
save 10% on your bill with your Thomson Discount Card (See all discounts on page 9).

Pasta and have a snack menu full of Panini’s and Salads too.

Torre Casello
This lovely lake-front bar. They specialise in local wines (starting at €2.50 a glass) and have their
very own professional meat slicer to make fresh panini’s and sandwiches.
Cristallo's
Cristallo's is a famous Ice cream parlour in Bardolino. They have an array of different flavours of
gelato on offer in various shapes and sizes, all of which are home made. Our favourites are the
spaghetti ice - which is vanilla ice cream with whipped cream topped with strawberry sauce and
shavings of white chocolate. Another must to try are the giant iced coffees a different way to start
your morning.

Top Tips
Water is fine to drink from the tap.
Wine lovers you have picked your holiday perfectly. Stick to the local wines like Bardolino, Lugana
and Valpolicella.
If you just want a quick coffee or prosecco stand at the bar instead of waiting for waitress service.
Most Italian bars charge a coperto (table cover) which is normally €2-€4, however you will avoid
this by copying the Italians and acting like a local while you stand or sit at the bar.
Tipping Culture:
If you plan to go for a meal then it is customary to tip the staff at the restaurant normally 10%
Tipping of the hotel staff is at your discretion.
