Innova Junior College Centre of Excellence for New Media is pleased to invite students from all primary schools to participate in the YouthchaNgE 3.0 Voice Up! Challenge 2015. 2. YouthchaNgE 3.0 Voice Up! Challenge 2015 is organised to promote new media competencies and interactive learning through participatory media. It also seeks to encourage the spirit of innovation through the engagement of national, social, or environmental issues using new media. 3. For YouthchaNgE 3.0 Voice Up! Challenge 2015, students will apply their film-making or animation skills to create a meaningful 5-minute short film based on one of the two themes provided by the organiser. 4. This challenge will be open for registration from 23 January 2015 to 27 February 2015. Do register early as limited slots are available. Once registration is confirmed, all video entries and accompanying write-ups must be emailed to the organiser no later than 27 March 2015, 1700hrs. For competition details, please refer to the accompanying entry kit (Annex A). Schools interested in participating may do so by completing the attached form (Annex B), duly signed with school stamp and faxing it to us at 6894 3655 during office hours. 5. Winners of the Challenge will receive certificates and attractive prizes. All participants will receive Certificate of Participation. Winning schools will be notified through email. 6. Challenge 2015 Entry Kit Objectives 1. To promote new media skills and competencies amongst students through creative expression and interactive learning across disciplines in participatory media 2. To inculcate in students a spirit of innovation and community involvement through the active engagement of national, social, or environmental issues using new media Competition Details 3. This competition is open to students who are enrolled in a primary school. 4. Each team must comprise of 3 – 5 students. A student cannot be a member of more than one team. 5. Each team must have a teacher-facilitator from the same institution as the students. The teacher-facilitator will serve as a point-of-contact between the organisers and the team. While the teacher-facilitator could provide guidance for the project, he/she should not be directly involved in the team’s production of the entry. 6. Each participating team is required to create a video that would entertain and educate viewers based on either the theme: 1) Positivity Online, OR 2) YouthChange 7. Participants may interpret the theme of their choice from a national, social or environmental perspective using the questions below. Groups may incorporate other perspectives or insights: a. For the theme “Positivity Online”, groups may explore some of the social or national concerns related to the improper use of the Internet. How do these problems arise? What are the consequences of these problems for various parties? What can individuals do to make the Internet a safer and more constructive space for all? b. For the theme “YouthChange”, groups should consider ways in which young people like you can contribute positively to a national, social or environmental cause beyond school. How will the wider community be positively be impacted by the efforts of these youth change-makers? How can other youth be inspired to take positive action through your production? YouthchaNgE 3.0 Voice Up! Challenge 2015 (Primary Schools) Organised by Supported by 8. Each film clip should not be longer than 5 minutes (including credit roll) and could be an animation, dramatic fiction, or documentary. Any form of music including royalty free clips used should be acknowledged in the credits. 9. Lines which are not delivered in English must be subtitled in English. 10. Competition registration starts from 23 January 2015 to 27 February 2015. 11. Please note that we will not accept submission via email. 12. All entries for youthchaNgE 3.0 Voice Up! Challenge 2015 should be submitted via the online form here: http://goo.gl/o9NV2V, with the YouTube URL of the unlisted entry video and a brief explanatory write-up. The write-up should not exceed 350 words and should provide the audience insights into the theme as captured in the video and elicit thoughtful reflections on the entry. The submission is strictly via the form and should be sent no later than 27 March 2015, 1700hr. 13. The videos will be judged on their creativity and content, aesthetics and filmmaking/animation skills, and effectiveness in communicating the themes above. The top 20 qualifying entries will be put up for online voting. Judging Criteria Creativity and Content 40% Aesthetics and filmmaking/animation skills 40% Effectiveness in communicating the topics 20% 14. In addition, there will be a “Most Popular” award given to the entry with the highest vote count. 15. The public voting period will be made available on the YouthchaNgE 3.0 website www.innova.digital/youthchange/ from 13 April 2015, 0800hr to 24 April 2015, 1700hr. 16. Trophies and attractive prizes will be given to the top three winning teams and the team receiving the “Most Popular” award. 17. All participants will receive certificates of participation. 18. The results will be announced by 8 May 2015. YouthchaNgE 3.0 Voice Up! Participants warrant that all works (music/video/contents/graphics/photographs) are original and that they have obtained model releases from any persons featured on the participants’ works allowing publication and use of the works as contemplated by these entry rules and conditions. 20. The Organiser reserves the right to use all submitted works in any manner deemed fit, without payment of any fees. The Organiser shall however undertake to ensure the proper acknowledgement of the original producer of any such works. 21. Participants warrant the whole copyright and any form of intellectual property right in the work vested in them. They have not in any way, assigned, licensed, disposed of, or otherwise encumbered any of their rights which allow them to deal freely with the work and the copyright therein. 22. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify any participant who has infringed any of the competition rules and regulations without providing any reasons. Submission of entries signifies acceptance of the rules and regulations stated above. Participants must abide by the competition rules and regulations, and any decisions made by the Organiser. 23.
