I wanted to take a few moments to introduce myself and to tell you
how excited I am to be joining you on May 4th as a 5th grade House
Principal. Since my time will be short at 5th Grade, I will continue
in 5th grade next year. Mr. Moyer, the current 8th Grade House
Principal, will be the 6th Grade House Principal for the 2015-2016
school year. I was able to visit for two days in March and it only
made me more enthusiastic about working with the students, parents, and staff here at the 5/6 Center. I was able to see students
passionately debate one another on the merits of the Colonists and
the British, create projects on Benjamin Franklin, and even be a
part of a fire drill on what seemed like the only warm day in
March! That time really made it difficult to get through the last
month waiting to begin my time here at Spring-Ford!
For the last nine years, I have been an eighth grade Language Arts
teacher at Colonial Middle School in Plymouth Meeting. While
there, I was also a team leader and a District Master Teacher. In
those roles, in addition to teaching, I was able to mentor teachers
and help other teachers become more effective instructors in the
classroom. While I enjoyed teaching and all of the rewarding experiences as part of the process of helping students in my classroom
learn, I am even more eager to help all of the students under my
care become successful learners in all of their classes as well as
helping them become positive, well round individuals.
On a personal note, I am married to my best friend, Lindsey, with
two beautiful daughters (Julia, almost 8, and Hannah, 5). I enjoy
spending time with them (coaching them in sports or just being
outside together) as well as following all of the local sports
teams...especially the Phillies, Eagles and 76ers!
I am sure that these last two months will seem like a whirlwind for
all of us getting to know each
other and working through
the 4th marking period. However, if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to me either
via phone or e-mail. I look
forward to helping make each
student’s and parent’s time
while at the 5/6/7 Center a
positive and successful experience.
