CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS
“Making Cities Work – Technology in Planning Practice” 11th ECTP-CEU Biennial of Towns and Town Planners
15th and 16th October 2015, Dublin, Ireland
In October 2015 the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) welcomes “Making Cities Work – Technology in Planning Practice” the 11th ECTP-CEU Biennial of
Towns and Town Planners to Dublin. The Irish Planning Institute are now inviting proposals for projects or papers to be presented at the Biennial.
The Biennial will focus on presenting and exploring new technologies in urban planning practice and will examine innovative projects where these
advances are reshaping our world today. The following sub themes will be explored across the Biennial through plenary sessions and practical
concurrent workshops: ICT; Urban Mobility; City Leadership and Governance; Mapping and Information Systems; and Spatial Planning and Energy.
This event is endorsed by ECTP-CEU as a Continuing Professional Development event.
The Biennial is a unique opportunity to bring technology, planning and other built environment practitioners together and we invite you to be part of
this exciting event by sharing your knowledge and experience with an international audience. If you can challenge and inspire attendees we
encourage you to submit an abstract today! Proposals must be emailed to [email protected] by Monday 1st June 2015.
General Information
Your proposal must:
•
Include the name(s) and affiliations of presenter(s) and a contact email and telephone number.
•
Indicate which conference sub theme is most relevant (ICT; Urban Mobility; City Leadership and Governance; Mapping and Information Systems;
or Spatial Planning and Energy).
•
Include a short abstract describing the project with particular attention to how it relates to the overall theme of the Biennial and its relevance to
planning practice.
•
All proposals must be emailed to [email protected] by Monday 1st June 2015.
•
Proposals and presentations must be in English.
•
Membership of an ECTP-CEU institute is not required.
•

There are no fees to submit a proposal.

If your presentation/project is accepted, each presenter must register for the conference. We do not pay presenters honoraria, reimburse expenses
(e.g. travel or accommodation), or waive conference registration fees. All presenters are required to register and pay published conference fees.
Online conference registration will open in May 2015. We recommend that presenters register early to take advantage of early-bird discounts.
Details will be available at www.biennialdublin2015.com. If you have not registered for the conference by 31st July your presentation will be subject
to removal from the schedule and the presentation slot offered to someone committed to attending.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I request a specific date or time for my session?
No, due to the complexities in conference scheduling, we are unable to accommodate specific requests for session scheduling and reserve the right
to schedule accepted proposals for either the plenary sessions or concurrent sessions. Sessions will be scheduled between 9am on Thursday 15th
October and 4 pm on Friday 16th October. Please make sure you are available during this time frame.
When will I hear about whether my proposal is accepted or not?
You will hear by Friday 17th July, if not sooner, regarding the status of your proposal.
How will my proposal be evaluated?
Proposals submitted on time and fulfilling all of the requirements will be considered and evaluated by expert Technical Committees and the Local
Organising Committee. When reviewing the project submissions, we will select based on the following criteria:
•
The content offers a significant contribution to the purpose of the Biennial.
•
The workshop provides participants with concrete ideas/models that can contribute to the development and/or practice of spatial planning.
•
Expertise of the presenter(s).
