Short Abstract
The goal of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with the concept of “Motivational Osmosis”, a natural drift of human motivation towards those life domains with the highest level of consciousness, and to introduce a framework that helps organizations to not only assess the present level of organizational consciousness, but also to identify the most relevant acupuncture points in order to reestablish intrinsic motivation. The concept of Gross Corporate Happiness, inspired by the GNH model of Bhutan, has been proven to represent an integral model to evaluate and elevate organizational consciousness. Summary
During the past centuries, business has successfully redesigned its processes in order to make the outcome independent of the human factor. Continuous Improvement became the mantra of management success. But with the dawn of the new millennium the rules have drastically changed. New social megatrends, technological quantum leaps and the tangible limits of the earth’ resources are only a few factors that threaten business models and start to shake up the mid-‐
term viability of many product strategies. Almost overnight, the human factor became a key driver in business for innovation performance, organizational efficiency in complex environments and client relations.
At the same time, employee motivation is in strong decline especially in industrialized countries. While employees are often blamed to be increasingly demanding, reality shows that they redirect the focus of their attention and engagement outside of the workspace for very different reasons than extrinsic rewards. The goal of the workshop is to familiarize the participants with the concept of “Motivational Osmosis”, a natural drift of motivation towards those life domains with the highest level of consciousness, and to introduce a framework that helps organizations to not only assess the present level of organizational consciousness but also to identify the most relevant acupuncture points in order to reestablish intrinsic motivation. The concept of Gross Corporate Happiness, inspired by the GNH model of Bhutan, has been proven to represent an integral model to evaluate and elevate organizational consciousness. The workshop will comprise a short journey through the evolution of economy and human motivation including an outlook into our near future, an introduction to the specific elements of the Gross Corporate Happiness framework and some practical work-‐sessions utilizing its “tool box”.
