Indian Veterinary Research Institute, the premier research organization of country in the field
of Veterinary and Animal Sciences is organizing a Brain Storming Session on “Functional Livestock
Products” on 6th June, 2015 in collaboration with Indian Agricultural Universities Association (IAUA)
and National Academy of Dairy Sciences (NADS).
In recent years, much attention has been paid to functional components of foods along with
their nutritive values, due to increasing concerns for health. Livestock products viz. Milk & Meat,
known for their high biological value proteins are also being tailored for their tertiary functional roles.
Number of ways has been devised to make livestock products healthier, but still many issues need
to be addressed for making functional livestock products a reality among masses. Aim of the present
Brain Storming Session is to develop a road map for researchers and stakeholders in view of
changing consumer preference and importance of functionality components in livestock products.
The theme identified for this Brain Storming Session is to discuss about the functional constituents,
R & D issues and to suggest a way forward for popularization of these functional livestock products.
The event is likely to comprise of 3-4 key note addresses from eminent scientists on relevant
issues followed by brain storming session on focused theme.
Scientists/faculty members working in this area are cordially invited to participate in
Brainstorming Session and discuss all issues and challenges and generate new ideas related to
functional livestock products.
There will be no registration fee for this Brain storming Session. However TA/DA has to be
borne by your organization.
