After a thorough research by Mr Mhlongo Executive Member in Gauteng & Kwa Zulu Natal . It was found that there are a great number of qualified security guards who are unemployed. He then realized it was of great importance to serve the commercial community hence the birth of IZWENI SECURITY GUARDS. “Client satisfaction our guarantee”. SERVICES OFFERED Izweni Security Guards has four core business functions: The deployment of Armed and unarmed Security Officers. The investigation of crime related as well as civil matters. Supply of warehouse staff (Pickers, Checkers, Loaders etc.) Electronics – The supply, installation and maintenance of electronic equipment {CCTV, Alarm systems, time and attendance etc.} AUXILIARY SERVICES PROVIDED: CCTV surveys, installations. Voice stress analysis and/or Polygraph testing Undercover operatives OPERATIONS Operations are managed from our control room situated at our offices at 1 Manchester Road, Wadeville. The control room is manned 24/7/365. Control room: We have a control room manned 24/7/365. Pre-deployment training: Before a security officer is deployed to a site he/she undergoes a two week training program. “Client Liaison”: All managers are required to visit our clients on a regular basis, thereby ensuring open, constructive and efficient communication channels. Management Services: Our “Management Services Department” oversee all administrative and support services, enabling the Shift managers and the General Manager to concentrate on service delivery. Shift Supervisors: Shift supervisors are experienced, professional and well trained, with previous experience at some of the larger guarding and reaction companies. They are not your run-of-the-mill officers but function as individuals who can take initiative and pro-actively serve our clients. MEASURES IMPLEMENTED TO ENSURE PROFESSIONAL AND EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY: Compliance with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority requirements and all other statutory requirements. Regular in-house training sessions. Site audits Service delivery audits, during client consultations. Strict, but fair implementation of policies and procedures. Honesty testing – to ensure our staff’s honesty , we regularly conduct “honesty tests” , during which we send undercover operatives to visit sites and attempt to entice the security officers posted there to assist with crimes. A form of legal “entrapment”. HUMAN RESOURCES RECRUITMENT POLICY Having the right employee on site, as required by a client is of the utmost importance to us. In view of this, we implement the following recruitment model: We actively employee ex-S.A.N.D.F. and S.A.P.S. members, as they have experienced working in a disciplined and high-risk environment. Reference checks with previous employers as well as verification of their security qualifications as well as verifying criminal records. The following requirements and tests are considered: o Health and fitness o Criminal checks o Pre-employment voice stress o Aptitude testing o Communication skills o Disciplinary records Knowledge of public relation skills and the ability to implement these. Discipline is addressed during the pre-deployment training course, with emphasis placed on time keeping, neatness, personal hygiene, politeness etc. TRAINING: Before a security officer is deployed he/she undergoes a two week training course. Lectures (In-house training): During the first week of training, candidates study the following subjects: Access control, Patrolling techniques, Administration, Legal aspects (Arrest, searching, seizures etc.) and discipline/disciplinary code. Candidates are tested daily to ensure that lectures were taken to heart. A pass rate of 70% has been set. Onsite training: In the second week candidates who successfully pass the lecture (class room) phase of training are then posted to three different sites over a five day period. During this time they receive onsite training where after they are evaluated by the site commanders on site. Employment equity All personnel are provided with opportunities for personal growth within the company, with the following posts being available: Site Commanders Control Room Commander Area Manager We employ female security officers as well as other female personnel (admin). 92% of our staffing compliment consists of previously disadvantaged individuals. We have an employment equity plan in place, which is reviewed regularly as prescribed by law. Our Labour Forum has access to this plan and participates by means of regular meetings. Community involvement We have been supporting various churches by supplying them with security officers during services at no cost. Various charity and welfare organisations receive donations monthly. Monthly donations are made to various orphanages and NPO’s in the Kempton Park and Benoni areas. OPERATIONS GUARDING FUNCTION In addition to the duties being performed by the Security Officers at each site, the following processes are implemented to ensure safety and security at the sites: We have a control room situated in Alberton, from where we manage all operations. Each site reports to our control room every 30 minutes. This ensures that the control room personnel are informed of the situation on site at all times. The control room issues a “password” every night; these are used to ensure that unauthorised persons do not report to our control room, e.g. during a robbery where the guards are tied up. The Shift Supervisors are on duty 24 hours a day. These Managers visits sites during their shift period, at irregular intervals especially during high risk times (Nights, month ends), thus ensuring visibility at your site as well as enforcement of our disciplinary code. We currently have three vehicles on duty 24/7/365. Clients are provided with a monthly report, detailing visits to the sites by our senior personnel, as well as any other issues of which cognisance should be taken. A Site operating procedure is implemented at each site we manage. These procedures are drawn up in conjunction with the client, and prescribe the needs and expectations of the client. The following aspects are addressed: - Site administration (Access control) - Safety and Security procedures - Dress code - Client instructions / requirements - Discipline - Access control - Customer care - Visitor procedures Accountability: All operational vehicles are fitted with live satellite tracking systems {Skytrax}. These systems monitor vehicle movements 24/7, ensuring that site visits are done timeously and as requested by clients. Off site monitoring could be defined as the remote viewing of alarm conditions via CCTV footage by means of ADSL connections. Alarm conditions would include the triggering of internal or external motion detection devices, i.e. Outdoor beams, passives or panic buttons.
