Looked after children and those leaving care face multiple barriers to gaining
sustainable employment and the education and skills that we all rely on for a
successful life. This role has been introduced to support the Care and After team and
their clients by acting as an intermediary, advisor and advocate. We are looking to
develop the role as we go building strong links with employers, educators and other
support agencies and informing best practice for the future package of interventions.
Our aspiration is to make outcomes for this disadvantaged at the very least as
favourable as their peers. You’ll need drive, determination, patience and great
organisation but most of all you will be able to build meaningful productive
relationships that help care leavers achieve their employment and skills goals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a social worker to join the Immediate Response
Team in Bristol which is part of our front door. You will be used to doing urgent/crisis
work and have experience of carrying out assessments/support plans/capacity and
best interests assessments. As a team we also have an important role to play with the
introduction of the Care Act. You will be given one to one supervision and there is
always a manager to consult about duty matters if needed. You will form part of a

Senior Officer – Early Intervention - INTERNAL

The Education Welfare Service, part of Bristol City Council’s Trading with Schools
division, is seeking a senior officer to lead intervention around Early Intervention work
to improve young people’s attendance at school.
This will include close collaboration with colleagues in schools, social care teams, and
strategic commissioning function.
Area of involvement will include:
• Early Help – Liaison with Early Help Teams, including participation at Early Help
coordination meetings;
• Pupil Tracking for vulnerable children, and work to identify Children Missing
Education
• Supervision of the Education Welfare Officers
• Identification of cases to refer to children’s social care – i.e. proactive identification,
rather than analysing referrals from schools; and
• Interrogation of xVault, the City Council’s new management information tool, which
brings together data from a variety of educational settings.
Experience of statutory intervention, particularly in an Education Welfare context,
would be an advantage.

People Directorate.
The Operations Support Team will ensure the smooth running of the People
Directorate, supporting all aspects of information management and sharing, forward

key role in making this happen day-to-day.

This year Bristol is celebrating being the UK’s first city to win European Green Capital.
What better time to join the team that submitted the bid and work with us on a key
sustainability project.
Bristol City Council has set targets to reduce CO2 emissions from the city by 40% by
2020 and 80% by 2050. We have adopted a Climate Change and Energy Security
Framework to achieve these targets which is the city’s Sustainable Energy Action Plan
under its Covenant of Mayors commitment.
The Framework is cross-cutting, embedding the targets and actions to tackle
emissions across all sectors including buildings, transport, sustainable energy supply,
economy, digital connectivity, planning, waste, communities and culture.
It includes over £700m of investment in new transport and energy infrastructure and
efficiency improvements as well as training initiatives, city policy changes, technology
pilots and public engagement activities.
We are looking for a Project Manager for a fixed-term who has excellent
communications skills evidenced by partnership working with public sector, private
sector and communities as they will be required to gather information from a wide

range of council teams to report on key metrics to assess progress of the Framework.
They will also need to be numerate in order to produce an Emissions Inventory of
carbon savings.
Underpinning this, they should have knowledge and experience of sustainability and
energy and be able to efficiently research best practice to inform and develop a future
plan.
There may be an opportunity to become involved in other work in the team for instance
in providing advice and reviewing planning applications for the built environment, if
they have appropriate level of knowledge and skills.

Management Team.

The team is responsible for revenue collection from Bristol City Councils 28,000
tenants. We focus on arrears prevention and tenancy sustainment as well as
maximising income for the Housing Revenue Account.
The advice and support we provide is within an enforcement framework and this can
include possession proceedings and eviction.
It is a busy and dynamic time for the team. We work in a fast moving environment,
and in response the team works collaboratively to review, develop and improve our
processes.

The Supervisors provide training, support, guidance and feedback to the team to
ensure the effective delivery of our work plans within target times.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen in the Commissioning and Supplier
Relationship Management (CSRM) Team for a Contract and Supplier Relationship
Manager (75% Contract Management, 25% Supplier Relationship Management). The
role plays a key role in ensuring the cost effective provisioning of ICT services to
Bristol City Council. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, they are responsible for
negotiating contracts and supporting the Commercial Manager in the higher risk
negotiations, drafting contracts, reviewing and amending ICT contracts. This involves
commercial negotiations with potential suppliers and procurement of identified services
and ensuring the best Value for Money for the Council.
They are also responsible for the continuous drive for supplier performance
improvement for Bristol City Council’s ICT suppliers. This involves working directly with
suppliers to improve performance, and gathering and maintaining market intelligence.
An integral part of this role is to ensure best value for money for the council through
working closely with the suppliers to improve efficiency and maximise value.

VOLUNTEER DRIVERS REQUIRED
Volunteer Car Service Drivers
Arriva Transport Solutions (ATSL) provides the non-emergency patient transport service in
Bath and North East Somerset, Gloucestershire, Swindon and Wiltshire.
The non-emergency patient transport service takes eligible patients to NHS appointments.
These patients would be unable to travel using their own or public transport due to their medical
condition or the impact of medical treatment.
Our well established volunteer car driver network is an essential part of this service and we are
currently looking to expand.
If you are caring and compassionate, and can spare some time to support people in your local
community – we want to hear from you.
You will need to have your own car, MOT, insurance and have held a full UK/EU driving
licence for over 12 months (<6 points).
In return for your time, you will receive a mileage allowance, be provided with training, ongoing support and an opportunity to be part of a nationally established, meaningful and caring
volunteer network.

RSVP-West - Lay Assessors for Bristol’s Home Care Service
We are looking for volunteers to train as lay assessors to help monitor
the quality of Bristol’s home care service.
The aim of this service is to talk to the people who have home care
commissioned by Bristol City Council to find out what people think about
their service.
Some people receive a very good service which they value. However,
some are not so happy with their home care and we think it is important
that their voices are heard. These people are amongst the most
vulnerable in our community and this care at home is vital to their
ability to remain independent and to have a quality of life.
The lay assessors’ reports will go back to the council who will then take
up any problems with the companies providing the services.
RSVP recruit volunteers who are over 50 years of age, typically retired or
working part time. We are particularly looking for people who have good
communication skills; are flexible and organised, use e-mail; enjoy
team working, but are able to work on their own initiative, and are not
judgmental. The volunteers will visit people all over Bristol who use the
service. They will receive training and good support whilst they
undertake this rewarding and challenging volunteer role. RSVP pay out of
pocket expenses and their volunteers are covered by public liability
insurance.

School Organisation & Governance Adviser
Salary: £29 – 31,500 per annum
Fixed Term for two years, Full-time
Based in Wells, Somerset, the Diocese of Bath & Wells is seeking to recruit to two new roles.
Within the School Organisation Team this new role will assist the team in meeting its targets within
the Departmental Development Plan and securing the future of the church school estate. This role
will be focused on our two unitary authorities and will be complementary to our existing adviser for
Somerset.
The key function of the role will be to provide advice, support and training for Governors and Head
teachers of Church schools and academies in the Diocese, especially in relation to school
organisation (including academies) and school governance.
School Effectiveness Adviser
Salary: £36 – 39,000 per annum
Fixed Term for two years
Full-time (a job-share would be considered)
Within the School Effectiveness Team this new role will join our existing Diocesan Schools’ Advisers,
and focus on the data monitoring, interventions and support directly related to children’s
attainment and progress.
The key function of the role will be to:
 Support in the implementation of the Diocesan School Effectiveness Strategy,
 To provide direct support to schools in relation to all aspects of school effectiveness including
governance,
 To work with schools to maintain and develop their distinctive Christian ethos, providing support
especially in RE, Collective Worship and Spiritual Development,
 To assist schools in their self-evaluation and preparation for SIAMS,
 To advise governors in relation to headteacher recruitment.
