Roger Marshall`s full bio here
Dr. Roger W. Marshall is an OB-GYN in Great Bend who has delivered more than 5,000 babies. He also
served as Chairman of the Board of Great Bend Regional Hospital for 14 years and is finishing his term as
the District Governor of Rotary International. Roger’s most important roles, however, are as husband
to his wife of 32 years, Laina, and father to his four children, the youngest of which is a junior at Great
Bend High School. Recently, Dr. Marshall and Laina became first-time grandparents when oldest child,
Lauren, and her husband Chris Weems brought young Roger into the world.
A Kansas native, Dr. Marshall earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Kansas State
University, before graduating from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He received his Medical
Doctorate in 1987.
During the final year of his residency in St. Petersburg, Florida, Marshall was named Teacher of the Year
by all other residents and faculty and earned the Resident Research Award. In addition, Dr. Marshall
scored in the top one percent in the nation on the final written exam given to all OB-GYN residents.
After completing his residency, Dr. Marshall moved back home to Kansas, and started his practice in
Great Bend in 1991.
A lifelong Republican, Dr. Marshall will bring more than medical and family experience to Congress.
Marshall has served seven years in the Army Reserves where he trained a mobile hospital support unit,
rising to the rank of Captain. He is a board member of Farmer’s Bank and Trust, a community bank that
has served central Kansas for 100 years. In addition, Marshall maintains his ties to his farm upbringing
by being involved in a cattle feeding operation and through his duties as Commissioner of the Kansas
Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
Roger has always been active in his community sports programs where he has coached and often cheers
for the children he has delivered. Active in his church as an Elder, Deacon and twice serving as board
chair, Roger has led international missions and spends as much time as possible at the Quivera National
Wildlife Refuge and Cheyenne Bottoms. He can often be found tending to his land outside of Great Bend
and restoring it so native wildlife can flourish there.
