This evening enjoy a dinner cruise and explore Milwaukee's past and present from the river. You will see Unforgettable views and a unique perspective of Milwaukee's history and architecture. (D) Day 2 - This morning you will stop and visit the Green Bay Packers Museum. The Packers Hall of Fame is one of the premier historical archives in sports with rare video footage from the 1930s to present, Super Bowl trophies and much more. Next, kick off your Door County adventure beginning with a meet and greet at the Door County Visitors Bureau. With more than 300 miles of spectacular shoreline and five state parks, Door County is a pleasure lover's dream come true. What makes Door County a place like nowhere else? It's a rare find a single destination that appeals to all of your senses. Then check into your Door County, WI hotel for a two night stay. Dinner this evening will be a traditional Door County fish boil at Pelletier's Restaurant. Just as Scandinavian settlers off the Peninsula did 100 years ago, fresh locally caught whitefish are cooked outside over an open fire along with small baby red potatoes and sweet boiling onions. (B,D) During the cooking process, fish oils naturally rise to the surface which "boil over" along with water in a fiery spectacle signaling the end of the cooking process and the beginning of dinner! Day 3 - Begin your day with a unique and authentic Swedish breakfast experience at Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant where live goats can be found grazing on the sod roof. It's quite a sight, and it's made this place one of the most famous restaurants in Door County. Be sure to stop at the gift shop for a special Swedish souvenir to remember your travels. Following breakfast you will board the Washington Island Ferry for a half-hour trip across the four mile passageway between the tip of the County and the island known as "La Porte des Morts" or "the door of the dead." The origin of its name and the County's, arises from a fabled battle between the Winnebago and Potawatomi Indians as well as, early French settlers who learned the dangerous character of this narrow strait as ships became entombed below in the chilly, turbulent water. Next, explore Washington Island onboard the Island's original open-air Cherry Train. Enjoy a narrated tour, highlighting island features and attractions. Stops could include Stavkirke Church, built to honor Scandinavian heritage. You will see Schoolhouse Beach, a protected harbor area and the Island's original shipping port and Jacobsen Museum, a small log cabin with a collection of natural and historical artifacts of the region. (continued) Day 3 - (continued) Return to the mainland early afternoon and enjoy some free time to explore on your own. Dinner tonight is included at a local restaurant. Then this evening travel to Birch Creek Music Performance Center for an evening of symphony, jazz, or percussion and steel band entertainment. Birch Creek Music Performance Center is where 200 students and 100 faculty members study by day and present concerts by night in a century old, 500 seat Dutton Concert barn. (B,D) Day 4 - This morning take a cruise along the scenic Door County shoreline with Fish Creek Scenic Boat Tours. Be sure to have your camera ready as you cruise past the 145 year old Eagle Bluff Lighthouse... learn the history of Ephraim and the millionaire's estate "Englemar" on Horseshoe Island and more!
