2nd Annual Kentucky Dressage Association Youth Clinic
With Gwen Poulin
(Open to all riders)
Spring Run Farm, Prospect, KY
April 4th & 5th, 2015
The KDA Education Team is very excited to announce our 2nd Annual Youth Clinic, to be hosted in Ms. Susan
Harris’s' premier indoor facility, Spring Run Farm located in Prospect, KY. Featuring the prominent Gwen
Poulin, youth and horses (AND adults) of all levels are welcome for a weekend of lessons with a former
USDF Junior/ Young Rider.
About Gwen Poulin
Gwen Poulin has been riding horses even before she could walk. In her earliest
years she bounced around on the ponies, learning the basics. When she was about
eleven, she received a 5 year old welsh pony named Robin as a birthday gift. Over
the years and with the help from her parents, Gwen trained Robin up the levels.
Together with Robin, Gwen participated in the very first Junior Dressage Team
Championships (1997) and was on the bronze medal team. Not only did they win a
bronze medal, Gwen and Robin were the highest scoring pony combination there.
Gwen also earned her United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Bronze and Silver
medals on Robin.
Gwen then went on to compete at the North American Young Rider Championships (NAYRC) in 1999, 2000
and 2001. She came home with three team gold medals and two individual silver medals. She was selected
for the Young Rider Olympic Dream Program and was selected to participate in the first Young Horse
Trainers Symposium held at Hilltop farm with Scott Hassler and Ulf Moller. Gwen has also been a
demonstration rider for many USDF and NADTC symposiums. Gwen is currently focusing on her own horse,
Pyrmont, whom she has raised and is showing successfully at Grand Prix. In 2008 she earned her USDF Gold
medal on Pyrmont, completing all three of her medals on horses she has trained. Along with Pyrmont, she
is campaigning the Dutch gelding Much Ado in the CDI arenas and has made the USEF Dressage High
Performance Long List. Gwen has also worked with the following: Natalie Lamping, the late Franz
Rochowansky, Dr. Volker Moritz, Mariette Withages, Jean Bemelmans, Ingrid Klimke, Christoph Hess and
Debbie McDonald. She hopes to one day represent America in the Olympics and also become a dressage
judge.
