Storms cause damage in Kingman County
Strong overnight storms April 3 caused some damage in Kingman County and left some
residents without electrical power.
Emergency Manager Fred Simon reported that at least one building at Cheney Lake RV & Boat
Storage was heavily damaged by high winds. Creations, a nearby restaurant, also suffered
damage that included a broken window. Both are located in the Mt. Vernon area, near NE 150th
Ave. and NE 50th St.
Branches were down near Cheney Lake in Kingman County and barricades were up Friday
morning on some roads due to downed power lines or other debris.
Westar Energy reported several hundred customers were without power after the storm,
including areas of eastern and northeastern Kingman County and the communities of Murdock
and Belmont. In some areas, power was not expected to be restored until April 6.
