Sharon Grace Halls Sharon Grace Halls, 76, Rapid City and formerly of Sturgis, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at Morningstar Assisted Living in Rapid City. Sharon was born April 12, 1939, in Sturgis, SD, to Harold and Aileen Remington. She attended school in Sturgis, graduating from Sturgis High School. Sharon married Clarence Halls February 17, 1967, in Roseburg, OR, where they lived until Clarence retired. They moved to Sturgis where Sharon worked for the Sturgis Tribune, the Sturgis Hospital, and the Sturgis Methodist Church. She also worked for a time at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs. Sharon was involved with the local TOPS Club and was the past president of the SD Unit. She was also very active in the VFW Auxiliary, and was a member of the twenty thousand hour plus Club with the VA where she volunteered at the Fort Meade VA Hospital. Sharon, in her spare time, enjoyed gardening, camping, and traveling. She spent many summers at the cabin by Tobin Lake in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, and also wintered in Arizona. Sharon was a member of the First Methodist Church in Sturgis, and had worked at the church as the secretary for Rev. Harold Fitch. She continued to attend church until her health began failing and she moved to Morningstar Assisted Living in Rapid City in 2012. Sharon will be deeply missed by Delores Gisi; Patty & Lonnie Ellwinger; Brent, Brad, and Brock Klapperich and families; the Clarence Halls family; and many nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Halls; her daughter, Melody Rae Halls; 2 brothers, Darrow and Dick Remington; and one sister, Donna Widner. A special thank you to everyone at Morningstar Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided Sharon. A memorial has been established to Cystic Fibrosis.
