Open Draws
There will be open draws for all major competitions.
These draws will be held in the clubhouse on the Thursday
evenings preceding the competitions. The finalised draw
will be posted on the website on Friday. Once the draw is
completed, no alterations can be made without the prior
approval of the Competitions’ committee.
Non return of Score Cards
All members MUST return all score cards after each
competition. The number of cards returned for a
competition determines the Competitions Standard
Scratch (CSS) on the day of the competition and affects
all members’ handicap adjustments. Failure by any
member to return his score card duly signed will be noted
by the Competitions’ Committee. Any member who fails
to return 3 cards will be disqualified from the next major
club competition.

COMPETITIONS FOR 2015

Senior Golfer of the Year

All senior members will be eligible to take part in this
Competition (50+)

This competition will take place between April and
August.
All senior members over 50 are eligible.
Entry fee €5.
Weekly seniors’ 9 hole re-entry competition
Monday to Friday from April 1st.
Singles stableford
Entry €3, re-entry €1
Member can play with any GUI member. Five weeks
(see below) will be qualifying competitions for Senior
Golfer of the Year and marked SQ in club diary.
Weekly prizes based on level of participation.
Internal Seniors’ Handicap Adjustment for 9 hole re-entry
competitions.
Players play off half their official handicap each week.
Adjustments as follows
Winner: -1 off full handicap (i.e exact full handicap 17.4 -1
=16.4) this player will be off 8.2 for following week.
Runner up: - .6 of full handicap (i.e. exact full handicap 23
-6=22.4 this player will be off 11.2 the following week.
All other qualifying seniors’ competitions i.e Captain’ Prize etc
will be played off Official GUI handicap and adjusted as normal.

Up to date Official GUI Handicap to be used for Seniors’
Matchplay competition.
All seniors competitions off green markers with the exception of
July Medal which will be off whites.
Entry to seniors’ 9 hole re-entry will be by computer as with all
club competitions and results will be posted in normal way.

SENIORS’ QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS
•
There will be 10 qualifying competitions for the
Senior Golfer of the Year award. These are;
•
President’s Prize, Captain’s Prize, Vice Captain’s Prize
and Lady Captain’s Prize. Marked (SQ) in the club
diary.
•
First full week of April, May, June, July and August
( excluding Bank Holiday weeks ) the 9 hole seniors’
re-entry competition will be qualifying competitions
for Senior Golfer of the Year and are marked (SQ) in
the club diary.
•
Seniors’ Medal – A seniors’ medal will take place on
Sunday 5th July – White Tees Strokeplay

COURSE USAGE AND ETIQUETTE
•

Replace Divots on the fairways.
Repair Pitchmarks on the greens.
Rake Bunkers at all times.
Be ready to play at least 10 minutes before your
appointed time. .
Do not waste time on tees boxes, have your club, tee and
ball ready when your turn comes to play.
On the fairway have your club selected and your
shot lined up, while your partners are playing their
shots, if possible.
Park your clubs / caddy car at the exit side of the
green for easy access to the next tee.
Do not mark cards around green — mark them on the
next tee box.
Caddy cars / buggies must be kept well away from
tees and greens and bunkers.
Players searching for a ball should signal to let players
through as soon as it becomes apparent that the ball
will not be easily found. They should not continue
play until the players have passed and are out of range.
Slow play is not acceptable. Keep up with the
players in front, not ahead of those behind. The
committee will, if necessary, contact or write to
constant offenders.
lt is mandatory to let the following group play
through if you have lost a hole on the group ahead.
Members should politely bring to players attention
their slow play and encourage them to speed up.
Mobile phones are not permitted on the course
except in case of emergency.
Appropriate Dress
•
Both the Men’s and Ladies Committee of
Knightsbrook Golf Club are anxious that standards
of dress are maintained at a high level, particularly in
the clubhouse, on the course and practice areas. To
this end the Committee seek the full co—operation of
all members and their guests to ensure that .
appropriate dress is worn at all times.

Please note that members have responsibility to
ensure that their guests adhere to the dress code
regulations while in the clubhouse or on the course.
The following items are unacceptable:
• Denim jeans / jackets (not acceptable on golf course)
• Untailored Shorts
• Tracksuits
• Trainers / Running Shoes
• Collarless & Sleeveless Shirts
• Tee Shirts
• Football & Rugby jerseys
• Trousers must not be tucked into socks.
The management and staff of Knightsbrook Golf Club have
been asked to draw these regulations to the attention of those
persons who are unsuitably dressed.
It is expected that the implementation of this code will be
effected with courtesy and common sense.

Only fully paid up members are eligible to win club
competitions or to be selected for club teams
The competition secretaries and committees are
responsible for the framing and interpreting of
conditions for all competitions. Their decision is
binding in all matters relating to competitions.
Relevant entry fees / guest green fees must be paid
before starting the competition, entry book signed
and signed into the computer (if relevant).
Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.
When signing in for club competitions, please swipe
your GUI card or enter the last four digits of your
GUI membership number.
Members are requested to study the notice boards
for details and rules of competitions.
Annual club fees (Men’s Club) and annual subscription to PLC

Cards must be marked and signed before entering
the clubhouse.
All Majors will be by open draw which will be posted in
advance on the website. (See Page 6)
Any members booking during official competition time
must pay the relevant competition fee, i.e. no casual
golf permitted during official competition time.
To qualify to win first prize (not enter) in the Captain's
Prize and/or the Presidents Prize, a player must:
Have their annual subscription paid in full or
be part of the Direct Debit Scheme and have submitted three
singles qualifying cards in competitions in Knightsbrook prior
to any major competition.
The courtesy & precedence of the course is afforded
to the Captain, Lady Captain & President during
members times.
Scores must not be disclosed to someone who has not
started the competition.
As a matter of courtesy to our sponsors, winners of
prizes are expected to present themselves or nominate
someone as a substitute to accept their prizes at prizegiving
functions.
Failure to atternd or nominate a substitute to collect prize at
prizegiving function will result in forfeiture of prize in keeping
with Men’s Club collection of prize’s policy ( 2013 )
Golfer of the Year
This competition is designed to honour the golfer
showing the most consistency throughout the year.
The award will be earned on the result of selected
singles competitions held during 2015
Points will be awarded based on net scores. Each
player may select their best 8 points totals from the 10

counting events outlined in the diary. The player with
the highest aggregate points at the end of the season
will be declared ‘Golfer of The Year'.
John Cusack Memorial
The John Cusack Memorial Salver will be presented to the most
improved golfer who takes part in a minimum of 10 competitions
and who achieves the largest percentage reduction in handicap, as
calculated by official GUI software.The Proprietor reserves the
right to alter the criteria under which the Trophy is awarded.

Scoring & Score Cards
RULE 6.1: The player and his caddie are responsible for knowing
the Rules. During a stipulated round, for any breach of a rule by his
caddie the players incurs the applicable penalty.
RULE 33.1: The Committee must establish the conditions under
which a competition is to be played. The Committee has no power
to waive a rule of golf.
RULE 6.2.b The competitor must ensure that his handicap is
recorded on his scorecard before it is returned to the Committee. lf
no handicap is recorded on his scorecard before it is returned (Rule
6.6b), or if the recorded handicap is higher than that to which he is
entitled and this affects the number of strokes
received, he is disqualified from the competition,
otherwise the Score stands.
NOTE: It is each player’s responsibility to know the correct hole
index at each hole when marking their card.
RULE 6.6.a Recording The Scores
After each hole the marker should check the score with the
competitor and record it. On completion of the round the marker
must sign the score card and hand it to the competitor. If more than
one marker records the scores, each must sign for the part which
he is responsible.
RULE 6.6.b Signing & Returning Scorecard
After completion of the round, the competitor should check
his score for each hole and settle any doubtful points with the
committee. He must ensure the marker or markers have signed
the score card, sign the score card himself and return it to the
committee as soon as possible. Penalty for breach of Rule 6.6b is
DISQUALIFICATION
RULE 6.6.c Alteration of Score Card
No alterations may be made to a score card after the competitor has
returned it to the committee

RULE 6.6.d Wrong Score For Hole
The competitor is responsible for the correctness of the score
recorded for each hole on his score card. lf he returns a score
for any hole lower than actually taken, he is disqualified. If he
returns a score for any hole higher than actually taken, the score
as returned stands.
NOTE I: The committee is responsible for the addition of scores
and application of handicap recorded on the score card — See
Rule 33.5
NOTE 2: In four ball stroke play, see also Rule 31.4 and 7a

LEGIBLY.
Handicaps
•
Members playing in club competitions must return all cards
otherwise their handicaps are likely to be reduced.
• Members are obliged to return all cards from open and society
competitions that equal or better the course standard scratch.
• Members are responsible for informing the Handicap Secretary
if they finish in the top three places in golf classics or similar
team events.
Timesheets For Competitions
Timesheets for weekly competitions open at 10am on the
proceeding Friday morning. Tee times can be booked online
through Knightsbrook Golf Club internet Tee Reservation Service
on our website www.knightsbrookgolfclub.ie This service allows
members to book a tee time over the internet and get instant on
screen and email confirmation of their booking.This booking
service is an integral part of the club's live computerised booking
system, hence tee time availability is accurate and up to date to the
second from anywhere in the world.
Competition tee times can also be booked by contacting the Golf
Shop on 046 9482102.
An online waiting list is now available for all weekend competitions

Cancellation From Timesheet
Members must make every attempt in good time to ensure that their
playing partners are not discommoded by an enforced cancellation.
Failure to contact the club in good time is not acceptable. The
committee will write to and suspend regular offenders.
No Show Policy
Members who are noted to be regular 'no-shows' or who are
habitually late for their tee time will receive the following
sanctions:
• Their name will be placed on the No Show list in the
Clubhouse and will remain there for one month.
• Should they persist their name will be posted for
another month.
• lf necessary thereafter, suspension of handicap for one month
will apply.

• 10 green fee guest books available for € 150 from the golf
shop.
• Members times subject to change.
• Members are entitled to book tee times seven days in advance
for casual golf.
• Members are not restricted to these times and may book at
other times subject to availability.
• Knightsbrook Golf Club PLC may book green fees into
members times if the time is not booked by members by
8.00am the previous day.
• Members may introduce up to three guests any day of the
week at a preferential green fee rate of €25 Monday -Sunday
(3 Guests for Only €50 Sunday - Thursday). However, guests
must play with the member to avail of the rate.

Club Issues & Complaints
Any Member of the Club who wishes to make a complaint or
bring an issue to the attention of the committee should do so in
writing to the Hon. Secretary who will in turn, where applicable,
consult with the Committee and / or Director of Golf. All
disciplinary issues will be directed to the relevant committee for
adjudication. Under no circumstances should a Member complain
directly to committee members, sub-committee members or
Knightsbrook Staff.
A copy of the clubs disciplinary complaints procedure
is available from the Honorary Secretary.
All queries regarding handicaps etc. should be put in
writing to the Handicap Secretary.
