Indications
· end ileostomy or colostomy
(colorectal surgery)
· ileal conduit (urology)
Contraindications
· fecal peritonitis or severe local
infection at the site of the ostomy
· not suitable for parastomal hernia repair

· circular skin incision
Recommended suture material
· non-absorbable 2/0 suture with
a non-cutting needle

· circular incision of anterior rectus sheath
· adjust the diameter of the incision to
fit the chosen KORING size

· blunt dissection of the rectus muscle
· incision of the posterior SHEATH/peritoneum

· interrupted single sutures with
non-absorbable 2/0 suture

· insertion of the KORING
· top of the KORING (blue mark) should
be level with the anterior SHEATH

· STITCH the KORING to the anterior sheath
at the level of the blue mark

· a seal with the rectus sheath should
be created with the top of the KORING
during suture placement

· use 8–10 single interrupted sutures

· view from abdominal cavity

· put the lip seal between muscle
and peritoneum in sublay position
· fix with few single stitches

· pull the bowel through the ostomy
12
· finish the stoma as usual
