Parents and students:
“Escape the Ordinary” is the theme for the Lafayette Public Library 2015 Summer Reading Program. The
Lafayette Public Library System will be offering a Summer Volunteer Program to students entering 8th – 12th
grades in the 2015-2016 academic school year. The volunteer program will begin June 1, 2015, and conclude
July 24, 2015. (We will not have volunteers the week of June 28 through July 3.)
Students will be assigned one or two days per week to work based upon the library’s needs and the
student’s schedule. Work sessions will last for three hours, either 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or from 1 p.m. to 4
p.m.
Applications will be accepted from May 4 to May 28, and should be turned in to the Library Branch that is
the student’s first preference.
An orientation session will be held in late May for all volunteers and will last approximately 30 minutes. The
orientation schedule is below. Students who cannot attend the scheduled orientation should contact the
appropriate library branch to schedule an individual orientation.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to working with all of our summer volunteers.
