THE BIG EVENT OPERATIONS STAFF APPLICATION WHAT IS THE BIG EVENT? The Big Event is a citywide service learning opportunity for the entire University of Nebraska-­‐Lincoln community. The event was started at Texas A&M in the early 1980’s as a way to give back to the College Station community. Ten years ago, the event was started at UNL for the same purpose. The tenth annual Big Event will take place on April 18, 2015. Volunteers will be located at not-­‐for-­‐profit agencies and private residences and students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity in the spring semester to participate in every type of service project. The event has grown each year and this year will be no exception! WHAT WILL YOU DO AS A MEMBER OF THE OPERATIONS STAFF? •

You will be the main line of communication between jobsites, volunteers and group leaders, and the executive committee of TBE. You will be in charge of approximately 4-­‐5 job sites for the day of the event, traveling to each site to ensure that the job is running smoothly, seeing if more supplies are needed, helping volunteers, etc. Prior to the event, for each job site, you will meet with the contact person to establish what jobs will be done the day of the event as well as fill out necessary documents. Operations staff members attend several meetings throughout the spring with the operations staff heads and communicate with both volunteer sites and group leaders ensuring that every participant knows what is going on the day of The Big Event. The major time commitment for operations staff is in March and April. IMPORTANT DATES: • Friday, December 5th: Applications are due to the ASUN office by 4:00 p.m. •
