NELSON POLICE DEPARTMENT RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Working under the direction of and in close collaboration with NPD Community Policing Officer,
the Program Coordinator will:
-
Manage all referrals, determine eligibility for NPDRJ, assure appropriate forms are used,
assign files, monitor files to completion
Develop working rapport with NPD staff, consult on referrals, maintain ongoing
communication
Provide ongoing support, consultation, recognition and evaluation of volunteers
Coordinate locations for Conferences / Circles, provide refreshments and appropriate
support for Co-facilitators and Mentors
Complete records and manage files, including Data base management and data entry
Liaise regularly with volunteers, media, and community
Update and manage all program materials including forms, brochures and posters
Coordinate marketing, organize events (Restorative Justice Week) and complete special
projects including administration, communication and research
Recruit new volunteers as required, provide training, supervision and evaluation
Acquire and use resources that enhance the NPDRJ program
Network with other RJ programs, share resources and participate in professional
development
Coordinate grant writing proposals, complete applications and be the public voice for
NPDRJ program
Required Qualifications:









Passion for principles and philosophy of Restorative Justice in professional and personal
life
1-3 years administrative experience and appropriate background in Social Work /
Education / Human Services or related field
Excellent time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities and handle
a wide variety of tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Extensive experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs
Experience working with databases
Experience in program development, designing appropriate training, and the supervision
and evaluation of adult volunteers
Ability to work with little or no direct supervision
Enhanced security clearance with criminal record check
Remuneration: up to 15 hours per week at $19 an hour
