2015 Summer Student Lottery Program
Information and Receipt
Read this document carefully
The Corporation of the Municipality of Leamington hires students to work from May to September.
Applications will be available on our website at www.leamington.ca or at the Municipal Building starting
Friday, December 19, 2014. Only one application may be submitted per person.
Applications are to be submitted by 4:00 PM on Friday, February 27, 2015 in person to 111 Erie Street
North, Leamington, Ontario. Applications by fax or e-mail will not be accepted.
How the Program works: Once an application is submitted, a receipt with a lottery number is given to
the applicant. All numbers given will be entered into an electronic lottery system and drawn at random.
Please note: The lottery draw results only dictates order for the interview process. It does not guarantee
employment. Candidate selection may be subject to experience, qualifications, field of study and police
clearances. Candidates who are contacted will be subject to an interview process. Only successful
candidates will be offered employment.
Eligibility Requirements: (Applicants must meet the following qualifications):

Must be a resident of the Municipality of Leamington. (Exception for Lifeguards/Swim
Instructors). Proof of residency will be required upon hire.

Must be at least 16 years of age by May 1, 2015

Must be in full-time attendance at a Secondary School, University or College recognized by the
Ontario Ministry of Education from January – April 2015 and returning to school September
2015. (Full-time attendance requires enrolment in at least three courses within a school term).

Students previously employed as a summer student by the Municipality of Leamington must
apply to and be eligible for the lottery in 2015 otherwise you will not be reemployed.
(Successful reference from previous season is required).

Only three contact attempts will be made. It is your responsibility to ensure contact methods
are correct and that a message will be taken and returned.

You do not have a choice of work location or department. If you refuse a position you will not
be called again.

Evening and weekend work shifts will be required and you must be available for work. We
require students to work up to and including Labour Day (Monday September 1st, 2014). Some
students may be required to work part-time after September 1st, 2015.

Once hired, as a condition of employment, students shall provide at their own expense one pair
of safety shoes or boots. Work clothing worn must be in accordance with the standard set by
the Hiring Department.

Note: Positions are subject to budget approval. Students employed under this program will be subject
to all working conditions, rights and privileges applicable to students only. This is a onetime temporary
employment term and is not associated with full-time employment in the Corporation.
Items required upon hire: Students who are hired for the summer student lottery program will be
required to provide the following information upon hire for documentation purposes:
 Birth Certificate or Passport
 Driver’s Licence
 Proof of residency (documents other than Driver’s Licence may be required)
 Proof of full-time school attendance January to April 2015 (Must be from the School’s
Registrar’s Office)
 Social Insurance Card
 Void Cheque / Banking Information
 Satisfactory Police Clearance
