A Barista is a person who has the passion for the skill of making coffee. A barista would work in the hospitality industry and this could mean long hours and shift work. Areas of employment could include: coffee shops, restaurants and function venues, corporate office spaces, mobile coffee vans. Barista Training Academy Registration fee: R100.00 Total Course fee: R400.00 Times: 08h30 - 16h30 Mon – Thurs & 08h30 - 15h30 Fri Duration: 12 weeks full time Entry requirements: Grade 10 and a desire to work in the hospitality industry (including long hours and possible shift work). Modules covered include: • Understanding of coffee (theory) • Understanding your equipment • Milk foaming techniques • Practical coffee making experience • Basic food service • • • • Background of coffee Speciality beverages Maintaining & cleaning equipment Basic Point of Sales Life Skills Developing life skills is an integral aspect of Learn to Earn’s mission to develop people holistically. All students registered for any training at LtE will receive life skills training. Some of the topics covered in the Life Skills course are: • Self-Awareness • • Work Ethics • • Conflict Resolution • • Relationships • Self Esteem HIV/AIDS Goal Setting CV Writing and Job Preparation An optional Discipleship programme is also offered – based on the adapted version of the Alpha Course. seeks to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually Learn to Earn is a skills development not for profit organisation with campuses in Khayelitsha and Mount Pleasant Hermanus.
